Removing the rear wheel drive axle shaft

We loosen the bolts of the rear wheels on the executed side

We jack up the rear wheels from the side to be performed.

We unscrew and remove the wheels from the side to be performed

You do not need to remove the wheels to remove the axle shaft. But it is better to remove the axle shaft for ease of removal.

With a 19 head, unscrew the eight bolts securing the axle shaft to the wheel hub

We put the container under the hub for the drained oil from the axle shaft and pull out the axle shaft

Install the semiaxis in reverse order. It is advisable to lubricate the cardboard gasket with sealant

Tighten the axle shaft bolts with a torque of 90-125 Nm. We check and, if necessary, restore the oil level in the rear axle crankcase (article - Checking and changing oil in the gearbox and rear axle GAZelle Next)

Replacing wheel bearings and semiaxis cuffs

We release the handbrake by placing stops under the front wheels.

Remove the rear wheels from one side of the car.

We take out the axle shaft, as described above.

Unscrew the lock nut with a special key from the standard set "for 62"

We remove the lock washer by prying it with a hook or two screwdrivers

We unscrew the bearing nut with the same head and remove it.

Note that it is installed with the pin outward.

Pulling towards you, remove the hub with bearings and a collar from the axle shaft housing

We take out the inner ring of the outer bearing with rollers.

Take out and remove the cuff with a screwdriver

We take out the thrust washer.

We take out the inner ring of the other bearing with rollers.

Using a soft metal drift, we knock out the outer rings of the outer and inner bearings

We wash the inner cavity of the hub and other parts with kerosene or diesel fuel.

Lubricate the bearing seats with gear oil.

With hammer blows through a soft gasket, we press in the outer rings of the new bearings.

Lubricate the rollers and cage of the inner bearing with Litol-24 and put its inner ring into the outer one.

Having installed the thrust washer, lubricated the edges of the new cuff with Litol-24, using the old cuff as a mandrel, press in the new cuff

We put the hub on the axle shaft casing, after which we install the inner ring with the outer bearing rollers lubricated with Litol-24.

We wrap the adjusting nut and adjust the bearings.

We install the semiaxis, and then fill the wheel hub with oil (see Checking and changing oil in the gearbox and the rear axle GAZelle Next).

Wheel Bearing Adjustment

We jack up the rear axle of the car until the wheels are off the ground.

We remove the wheels.

Remove the semiaxis.

Unscrew the outer nut, remove the lock washer and loosen the bearing nut by ⅓ turn.

We check the ease of rotation of the hub.

If the brake pads touch the drums, we eliminate this malfunction, after which we repeat the adjustment.

We tighten the bearing nut with a special head from the standard set with a torque of 7-10 kgf.m, constantly rotating the hub for self-aligning of the rollers in the bearings.

We unscrew the bearing nut at an angle of 22–45 ° (1–2 slots on the lock washer, no more).

We install the lock washer so that the nut lock pin goes into its slot.

We install and tighten the outer nut to a torque of 15–20 kgf.m with the same head.

After that, the hub should rotate freely without play, clicks and seizures.

Install the remaining parts in reverse order and fill the hub with oil (see Checking and changing oil in the gearbox and the GAZelle Next rear axle).

We check the adjustment by driving about 10 km.

Heating the hub over 70 ° C (the hand does not tolerate) is considered unacceptable.

We repeat the adjustment, after which we re-check the temperature of the hub after the same run.
