We remove the gearbox for replacement or repair, as well as for repairing the clutch, removing the engine and replacing the primary bearing of the gearbox.

We install the car on a lift or inspection ditch.

Drain the oil from the gearbox

Disconnect the clutch release cable and bracket on the gearbox

We disconnect the gearbox control rod from the shift mechanism rod (article - Repair of the Nissan Almera gearbox shift mechanism)

We remove the crankshaft position sensor (article - Removing the elements of the CUD of a Nissan Almera car)

Remove the breather hose from the gearbox housing fitting.

Disconnect the wiring harness from the reverse light switch

On the front side of the gearbox with a head of 13, unscrew the bolt securing the ground wire tip

Removing the transmission Nissan Almera

With a 13 head, we unscrew the four bolts securing the clutch housing to the engine oil pan.

Removing the transmission Nissan Almera

We substitute height-adjustable stops under the engine and gearbox

Using a 16 spanner wrench, unscrew the nut securing the left support of the power unit to the gearbox bracket

Removing the transmission Nissan Almera

With a 13 head, unscrew the gearbox mounting nut (to the cylinder block) located above the spline shaft of the right side gear of the differential (shown on the removed power unit)

Removing the transmission Nissan Almera

With a 13 head, unscrew the nut 1 and two bolts 2 securing the clutch housing to the cylinder block (shown on the removed power unit)

We lower the power unit on adjustable stops to remove the gearbox bracket pin from the support hole

Removing the transmission Nissan Almera

We take the gearbox away from the engine to the left, removing the input shaft of the box from the hole in the hub of the clutch disc, and remove the gearbox

Setting the checkpoint

Before installing the gearbox, apply a thin layer of SHRUS-4 grease to the splined end of the input shaft.

Introducing the input shaft of the box before h into the splines of the clutch disc and, having oriented the gearbox so that the pin of the cylinder block and the pin of the clutch housing enter the corresponding holes in the crankcase and block, we send the gearbox all the way into the engine block.

Tighten the bolts and nuts securing the gearbox to the moments:

  • - bolt for fastening the clutch housing to the cylinder block - 44 Nm;
  • - gearbox oil drain plug - 25 Nm;
  • - wheel bolt - 105 Nm

Further assembly operations are carried out in reverse order.

Pour oil into the gearbox.
