In the intake manifold of the ISF3.8 engine, the installation of an intake air heater for a start-up aid system is provided

The heater is a cylindrical heating element built into the intake manifold.

The intake air heater is designed to make it easier to start the engine at low ambient temperatures.

The preheat system includes a heater driver (which controls the power relay) and a Start Delay indicator.

The operation of this system before a cold start is referred to as "preheat".

The amount of time that the intake system heater must be turned on depends on the air temperature in the intake manifold when the ignition is turned on, as shown in the figure.

Engine preheating time

After a cold start, the intake air heater may be turned on for a warm-up period, referred to as “post-heating”.

The post-heating time is determined by the average value of the intake manifold temperature sensor readings when the engine is turned on.

Post-heating is switched off when the vehicle speed reaches 30.5 km/h.

Withdrawal
