Replacing brake pads
Brake pads are replaced when the pads are worn 2 mm or less.
We also replace the pads if they have deep grooves or chips, strong oiling
The pads must be replaced as a set on both sides.
We install the car on the handbrake and place the wheel chocks under the rear wheels
Loosen the front wheel nuts
Raise and place the front of the car on stops
Finally unscrew the wheel nuts and remove the front wheels
We unscrew the bolts of the guide pins of the movable bracket
Remove the brake caliper caliper
We tie the bracket to the front suspension spring with wire
In this case, you need to make sure that the hose is not twisted and is not too tight
Remove the outer brake shoe from the shoe guide
Removing the inner brake pad
Checking the condition of the rubber protective covers of the guide pins
Lubricate the caliper guide pins with grease
With the help of sliding pliers, we press the piston of the working cylinder (when pushing in, do not damage the piston boot)
We install the inner “B” and outer “A” brake pads in the shoe guide
Installing the movable bracket
So that the bolts of the guide pins do not unscrew, we lubricate them with an anaerobic thread lock before installing them
After assembly, press the brake pedal several times to select the gaps in the brake mechanism
In the same way, we replace the brake pads on the other side
After replacing worn-out brake pads with new ones, do not rush to immediately drive onto busy highways.
It is possible that the first hard braking you will be unpleasantly surprised by the low efficiency of the brakes, despite the fact that branded pads are installed.
Brake discs also wear out, and new pads only touch them at the edges, practically without braking.
Choose a quiet street or passage without cars and slow down gently several times so that the pads get used and begin to fit the entire surface. At the same time, evaluate the effectiveness of the brakes.
Try not to brake hard for at least the first 100 km.
When unused pads get very hot, the top layer of their pads burns, and the brakes will not be as effective as possible for a long time.
Replacing the brake caliper
We install the car on the handbrake and place the wheel chocks under the rear wheels
Loosen the front wheel nuts
Raise and place the front of the car on stops
Finally unscrew the wheel nuts and remove the front wheels
Unscrew the bolt fitting of the brake hose and disconnect the brake hose from the caliper
We unscrew the bolts securing the caliper and brake mechanism to the steering knuckle
Remove the caliper
Install the caliper in reverse order
When installing the brake hose, it is necessary to replace the gaskets of the bolt-fitting
Restore the brake fluid level and bleed the system as described in the article - "How to change brake fluid and bleed Hyundai Solaris brakes"
Replacing the brake disc
If there are scuffs, deep scratches and other defects on the working surface of the disc that increase pad wear and reduce braking efficiency, as well as in case of increased lateral runout of the disc, causing vibration during braking, replace the disc.
In specialized workshops, such a disc can be machined and polished on both sides to the same depth, but after processing, the thickness of the disc must not be less than the minimum allowable.
If one of the discs is less than the specified thickness (20 mm), replace both discs.
When replacing brake discs, be sure to replace the brake pads with a new set.
We install the car on the handbrake and place the wheel chocks under the rear wheels

Finally unscrew the wheel nuts and remove the front wheels
Remove the brake caliper as described above
Suspend the caliper and tie it to the front suspension spring
We unscrew the two screws securing the brake disc to the wheel hub

Assembling all the parts in reverse order
