The repair of the brake mechanism consists in disassembly, evaluation and replacement of parts

Replacement of brake pads

Brake pads are replaced when the pads wear out 2 mm or less. We also replace the pads if they have deep furrows or chips, strong oiling

The pads need to be replaced with a set on both sides.

We install the car on the handbrake and substitute anti-rollback shoes under the rear wheels

Loosen the tightening of the front wheel mounting nuts

We lift and install the front part of the car on the stops

Finally unscrew the wheel nuts and remove the front wheels

We tie the bracket with a wire to the spring of the front suspension

At the same time, it is necessary to make sure that the hose does not twist and is not too tight

We install the inner "B" and outer "A" brake pads in the guide of the pads

Installing the movable bracket

To prevent the mounting bolts of the guide fingers from being unscrewed, lubricate them with an anaerobic thread retainer before installing them

After assembly, we press the brake pedal several times to select gaps in the brake mechanism

In the same way, we replace the brake pads on the other side

Having replaced worn-out brake pads with new ones, do not rush immediately to go to busy highways.

It is possible that at the first intensive braking, you will be unpleasantly struck by the low efficiency of the brakes, despite the fact that branded pads are installed.

The brake discs also wear out, and the new pads touch them only with the edges, practically without braking.

Choose a quiet street or a passage without cars and slow down smoothly several times so that the pads get used and become adjacent to the entire surface. At the same time, evaluate the effectiveness of the brakes.

Try not to brake sharply for at least the first 100 km. With strong heating of unworked pads, the upper layer of their pads burns, and the brakes will not be as effective as possible for a long time.

Brake disc replacement

If there are scratches, deep ridges and other defects on the working surface of the disc that increase the wear of the pads and reduce the braking efficiency, as well as in the case of increased lateral beating of the disc that causes vibrations during braking, replace the disc.

In specialized workshops, such a disk can be ground and sanded on both sides to the same depth, but after processing, the thickness of the disk should not be

less than the minimum allowed.

If one of the discs is less than the permissible thickness (20 mm), replace both discs. When replacing the brake discs, be sure to replace the brake pads with a new set.
