We prepare the vehicle for the work. We open the vehicle tailgate. We disconnect the negative battery terminal.

Removing the tailgate lock

Pressing the lock cover retainers — Press the lock cover retainers

Removing the lock cover — Remove the cover

Unscrewing two lock securing screws — Unscrew the two screws securing the lock to the tailgate

Tailgate lock removed — Remove the lock

Pressing the wire connector retainer — Press the wire connector retainer

Disconnecting the connector from the switch connector — Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the connector of the luggage compartment lamp limit switch

Refitting: refit the tailgate lock in the reverse order.

Removing the tailgate striker

Tools: TORX T20 key, screwdrivers and a marker or felt-tip pen.

Removing the rear luggage compartment trim — Remove the rear luggage compartment trim

Marking the position of the striker — Outline the position of the lock striker with a felt-tip pen or marker

Unscrewing two striker securing screws — Unscrew the two screws securing the luggage compartment lock striker to the body

Luggage compartment lock striker removed — Remove the striker from the vehicle

Removing and refitting the tailgate

We open the tailgate, we disconnect the negative battery terminal.

Preparation for removing the tailgate trim — We prepare the tailgate for removal

Removing the trim securing pins — Prise up with a screwdriver and remove the tailgate trim securing pins

Location of the tailgate trim pins

Unfastening the upper lock cover retainer — Unfasten the upper lock cover retainer and remove the cover, sliding it off the lock striker

Unscrewing two switch securing screws — Unscrew the two screws securing the switch of the tailgate lock electric drive

Moving the switch aside by the length of the wires — Move the switch aside by the length of the wires

Pressing the wire connector retainer — Press the wire connector retainer

Disconnecting the connector from the lock electric drive — Disconnect the wire connector from the tailgate lock electric drive

Pressing the retainers of the wiring harness holder — Press the retainers of the wiring harness holder

Removing the wiring harness holder — Remove the wiring harness holder

Routing the wires inside the tailgate — We route the wires inside the tailgate and pull them out of the opening

Removing the upper strut hinge retainer — Prise up with a screwdriver, slide outwards the retainer of the upper strut hinge and remove the retainer

Disconnecting the upper strut hinge — Disconnect the upper hinge from the mounting on the tailgate

Disconnecting the lower strut hinge — Disconnect the lower hinge from the mounting on the body

Tailgate struts removed — Remove the struts on the left and right

Marking the location of the hinges — Mark the location of the hinges relative to the tailgate by outlining them with a felt-tip pen

Unscrewing the bolts securing the tailgate to the hinges — Unscrew two bolts securing the tailgate to the hinges on each side and remove the tailgate

Refitting the tailgate:

Refit the tailgate in the reverse order.
Before tightening the nuts, fit the tailgate according to the marks made.
If fitting a different tailgate, it must be aligned so that the gaps are equal on all sides, and only then tighten the nuts.
