We prepare the vehicle for the work. We open the vehicle tailgate. We disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Removing the tailgate lock
Press the lock cover retainersRemove the coverUnscrew the two screws securing the lock to the tailgateRemove the lockPress the wire connector retainerDisconnect the wiring harness connector from the connector of the luggage compartment lamp limit switch
Refitting: refit the tailgate lock in the reverse order.
Removing the tailgate striker
Tools: TORX T20 key, screwdrivers and a marker or felt-tip pen.
Remove the rear luggage compartment trimOutline the position of the lock striker with a felt-tip pen or markerUnscrew the two screws securing the luggage compartment lock striker to the bodyRemove the striker from the vehicle
Removing and refitting the tailgate
We open the tailgate, we disconnect the negative battery terminal.
We prepare the tailgate for removalPrise up with a screwdriver and remove the tailgate trim securing pinsLocation of the tailgate trim pinsUnfasten the upper lock cover retainer and remove the cover, sliding it off the lock strikerUnscrew the two screws securing the switch of the tailgate lock electric driveMove the switch aside by the length of the wiresPress the wire connector retainerDisconnect the wire connector from the tailgate lock electric drivePress the retainers of the wiring harness holderRemove the wiring harness holderWe route the wires inside the tailgate and pull them out of the openingPrise up with a screwdriver, slide outwards the retainer of the upper strut hinge and remove the retainerDisconnect the upper hinge from the mounting on the tailgateDisconnect the lower hinge from the mounting on the bodyRemove the struts on the left and rightMark the location of the hinges relative to the tailgate by outlining them with a felt-tip penUnscrew two bolts securing the tailgate to the hinges on each side and remove the tailgate
Refitting the tailgate:
Refit the tailgate in the reverse order.
Before tightening the nuts, fit the tailgate according to the marks made.
If fitting a different tailgate, it must be aligned so that the gaps are equal on all sides, and only then tighten the nuts.
