Remove the fuel tank for flushing and replacement, the fuel tank cannot be repaired
We prepare the car and install it on a lift or an inspection ditch
To remove fuel residues after disconnecting the connecting hose of the filling pipe from the tank pipe, remove the valve (to be described below) and pump out the remaining fuel through the opened hole in the tank
We reduce the pressure in the power system, as described in previous articles
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery
Raise the rear seat cushion and remove the fuel pump module access cover
Disconnect the tip of the pressure fuel line from the fuel module fitting
Disconnect the wiring harness from the fuel pump module connector
Disconnect the fuel return line connector from the fuel module
Remove the block of the main mufflers
Loosen the clamp of the fuel tank ventilation hose with pliers, move the clamp along the hose
Disconnect the hose from the fuel tank pipe
Loosen the clamp fastening the connecting hose of the filler pipe to the fuel tank nozzle
Disconnect the hose from the nozzle, while removing the clamp from the hose so as not to lose it
Pry off with a screwdriver and remove the valve from the fuel tank filler pipe
Check the operation of the valve, replace the faulty one
We unscrew the plastic nut securing the protective shield to the fuel tank clamp
We unscrew the two bolts securing the shield to the bottom of the body
We install a reliable support under the tank
We unscrew the bolts of the fuel tank clamps on the left and right sides
Remove the clamps from the fuel tank
The arrows in the photo show the bolts of the fuel tank clamps
Carefully remove the fuel tank, removing it from under the right protective shield
Install the fuel tank in reverse order
After connecting the pipelines and the fuel pump wiring harness, fill the tank with gasoline
We start the engine and check the tightness of the pipeline connections
Removing the fuel filler pipe
To remove the fuel tank filler pipe:
Remove the left rear wheel and place the car on a secure footing
Remove the left rear wheel liner
Loosen the clamp of the fuel tank ventilation hose with pliers and slide the clamp along the hose
Disconnect the hose from the fuel tank pipe
Loosen the clamp fastening the connecting hose of the filler pipe to the fuel tank nozzle
Disconnect the hose from the nozzle, while removing the clamp from the hose so as not to lose it
We unscrew the lower and upper bolts securing the fuel tank filler pipe to the body
Pry off with your hand and remove the fuel tank filler seal, then remove the filler and ventilation pipe
Install parts in reverse order
