Removal of the wiper and repair are carried out if the wiper motor or the wiper linkage fails.
For the task the following tools are required: 24 spanner, Torx T30, 10 mm socket, plastic trim removal tool and a set of screwdrivers.
Prepare the vehicle, raise the bonnet, disconnect the battery negative terminal.
Remove the protective cap from the nut securing the wiper arm.
Using a 13 mm box spanner, undo the nut.
Remove the arm with the blade from the wiper shaft. Also remove the arm on the other side.
Remove the seal from the front bulkhead.
Remove the seal from the engine compartment mudflap.
Using a screwdriver or a plastic trim removal tool, prise up the pin of the clip securing the left-hand windscreen scuttle trim.
Withdraw the clip.
Remove the left-hand windscreen scuttle trim.
Using a screwdriver, press the wiring connector clip.
Disconnect the connector from the gear motor (shown on the removed connector).
Remove the protective cap from the wiper nut.
Using a 24 mm box spanner, undo the nut.
Remove the washer and seal from the wiper bush.
Carry out the same operations on the other wiper bush.
Using a 10 mm socket, undo the bolt securing the wiper.
Remove the windscreen wiper.
Using a marker or a file, mark the position of the crank relative to the gear motor shaft.
Using a 13 mm box spanner, undo the nut securing the crank.
Remove the crank from the gear motor shaft.
Using a Torx T30 key, undo the three screws securing the gear motor to the wiper bracket.
Remove the gear motor.
Refit the gear motor in reverse order.
To set the gear motor shaft to its initial position, connect the wiring connector to the gear motor.
Fit the battery negative terminal.
Switch on the gear motor with the steering column switch.
Switch off the wiper and then wait for the gear motor shaft to stop.
In this position, fit the crank according to the mark.
If a new gear motor is being fitted.
Fit the crank onto the gear motor shaft in the position shown in the photo.
Tighten the crank securing nut.
Carry out the further fitting of the windscreen wiper in reverse order.
When fitting the wiper arms onto the wiper shafts, note that the left-hand wiper arm is 10.0 mm longer than the right-hand wiper arm.
