The rear door glass wiper mechanism is secured with rivets. Replacement is carried out if the gear motor fails.
To drill out the rivets, a drill with an 8 mm bit is required.
Prepare the vehicle for the task.
Remove the luggage compartment door trim.
Lift the protective cap covering the nut securing the wiper arm.
Using a 13 mm box spanner, undo the nut securing the arm.
Remove the arm together with the blade.
Having pressed the wiring connector clip, disconnect the connector from the gear motor.
Using a drill, drill out the rivet located closer to the right-hand side of the vehicle.
Remove the wiper, withdrawing the wiper brackets from the rubber mounts.
Fitting the wiper
To fit the wiper, take a stud approximately 100 mm long with an M6 thread.
Bend the end of the stud 25 mm long at a right angle and screw a nut onto the bent end.
Withdraw the bent end of the stud from the hole where the rivet was previously installed.
Apply soapy water to the two recesses of the wiper bracket.
Feed these recesses of the wiper into the rubber mounts secured to the door by rivets.
And fit the third rubber mount onto the stud.
Fit the washer, screw on and tighten the M6 threaded nut securing the wiper.
To set the gear motor shaft to its initial position, connect the wiring connector to the gear motor.
Connect the negative terminal to the battery, switch on the gear motor with the steering column switch, then switch it off and wait for the gear motor shaft to stop.
In this position, fit the wiper arm so that it is horizontal and directed towards the right-hand side of the vehicle.
