Checking the front wheel alignment angles should be done on a special stand, while the car should be in a horizontal position with the front wheels set for straight-ahead movement

First, make sure that the front suspension and steering are in good condition, and that the tires and wheels are free of defects.

Wheel toe

Toe is defined as the difference in distances (B–A) between the front and rear sides of the wheel rims.

Positive toe means that the wheels are closer together at the front than at the rear, when measured at the height of the midpoint of the wheel.

If the toe does not correspond to the required value, loosen the left and right locknuts of the tie rod ends, then, by rotating the rods, set the required angles.

Tighten the locknuts.

Kia Magentis Wheel Alignment

Toe-in (B – A): –3 mm…+3 mm

Toe-in (a+b): –17"11"…+17"11"

A 1/2 turn of the tie rods changes the toe-in by approximately 4.8 mm (57 "40").

A 1 turn of the tie rods changes the toe-in by approximately 9.6 mm (1°55 "20").

Adjusting the angles of the wheels of the Kia Magentis

Adjusting the toe-in should be done by rotating the left and right tie rod ends by the same angle.

When adjusting the toe-in, loosen the outer clamp of the protective boot to prevent it from twisting.

After adjustment, tighten the locknuts of the tie rod ends and the clamps of the boot.

Tightening torque: 50–55 Nm

Wheel camber

Cam is the angle of inclination of the wheel in relation to the road surface in the vertical plane.

It can be positive if the wheels are tilted outward, or negative if the wheels are tilted inward.

The camber angle is set during the manufacture of the car and cannot be adjusted.

Camber:

  • 0°± 30" for standard suspension
  • 8"± 30" for high suspension

Kingpin caster angle

Kingpin caster angle The kingpin angle is set during vehicle manufacture and cannot be adjusted.

If the kingpin angle does not meet the required values, replace bent or damaged parts.

Kingpin angle: 3°15"±1°

Before checking and adjusting the wheel alignment angles, the front suspension must be free of worn, loose or damaged parts.

Adjusting the wheel alignment angles must be performed using a special tool 09529–21000.

The camber and caster angles of the kingpin are set during the manufacture of the vehicle and cannot be adjusted.

If the camber and caster angles do not correspond to the required values, replace the bent or damaged parts.

Adjusting the rear wheel alignment

Rear wheel alignment: 2±2 mm

When adjusting the rear wheel alignment, the adjusting bolt on the supporting wishbones must turn by the same angle on both sides of the vehicle.

Inside the car: positive toe-in

Outside the car: negative toe-in

The scale is graduated at approximately 2.4 mm, which corresponds to a steering angle of 14".

Rear camber

Rear camber:

  • –30"±30" for normal suspension
  • 38"±30" for high suspension

The rear suspension must be free of worn, loose or damaged parts before checking and adjusting the wheel alignment.

The camber is set at the factory and cannot be adjusted.

If the camber does not correspond to the required values, replace bent or damaged parts.
