Tools: 16 mm spanners, TORX T15, flat-blade screwdriver.
Precautions: we disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait at least 1 minute before removing the seat belt. This is necessary for the SRS system capacitors to discharge.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal
Removing the front seat belts
Press the seat belt buckle retainerRemove the seat belt buckle
We remove the lower centre pillar trim.
Remove the lower centre pillar trimRemove the upper centre pillar trimUnscrew the upper securing bolt of the front seat beltDisconnect the seat belt securing bracket from the seat belt height adjustment mechanismUnscrew the inertia reel securing boltRemove the inertia reel together with the driver's seat belt from the cavity of the body centre pillar
Removing the seat belt height adjustment mechanism (if necessary)
Unscrew the bolt securing the seat belt height adjustment mechanism to the body centre pillarSlide the height adjustment mechanism upwardsRemove the seat belt height adjustment mechanism
Refitting: refit the seat belt in the reverse order.
Removing the rear seat belts
Remove the rear parcel shelf and the rear pillar trims (see the article Removing interior parts on a Renault Megane 2)Unscrew the securing bolt and disconnect from the body the lower mounting bracket of the rear passenger seat beltPull back the connector retainer and disconnect the connector from the pretensioner module of the rear passenger seat beltUnscrew the inertia reel securing boltRemove the inertia reel together with the pretensioner module and the rear passenger seat belt
Refitting: refit the seat belt and all parts in the reverse order.
Note: when refitting the seat belts, make sure that:
the belt is not twisted;
the securing bolts are tightened to the required torque;
after refitting, check the operation of the inertia mechanism and the buckle.
