According to the manufacturer's recommendation, the accessory drive belt should be replaced after 4 years of operation or after 60,000 km (whichever comes first)

Vehicles without power steering and without air conditioning

Check the belt tension by pressing your finger on it between the alternator and crankshaft pulleys.

When pressing with a force of 100 N (10 kgf), the belt deflection should be 8-12 Nm.

To check the tension, you can use a spring balance by pulling the belt section with a hook.

To adjust the belt tension, loosen the alternator mounting bolt to the tension bar.

Loosen the alternator mounting bolt to bracket.

Adjust the belt tension and tighten the alternator mounting bolt to the tension bar to a torque of 21 Nm.

Tighten the alternator mounting bolt to the bracket to a torque of 44 Nm.

To replace the belt, loosen its tension (see above) and remove the belt from the drive pulleys.

Install a new belt and adjust its tension.

Vehicles equipped with air conditioning

On Renault Logan vehicles equipped with air conditioning, two auxiliary unit arrangements are possible: the air conditioning compressor and alternator can be installed on opposite sides of the engine or on the same side. In the first case, the vehicle uses two drive belts: one to drive the alternator, the other to drive the air conditioning compressor.

In the second case, a single drive belt is used, the tension of which is adjusted by a tensioner roller,

On vehicles with the alternator and air conditioning compressor located on different sides of the engine, replace the drive belts in the following order.

Remove the air conditioning compressor drive belt by cutting it.

Replace the alternator drive belt (see above).

Install the belt holder (included with the air conditioning compressor drive belt) at the bottom of the crankshaft pulley.

Place the belt on the air conditioning compressor pulley and thread it behind the holder installed on the crankshaft pulley.

Slide the belt holder with the belt secured to it along the crankshaft pulley clockwise as far as your hand strength allows.

Install the special hook (included with the air conditioning compressor drive belt): one side of it hooks onto the compressor mounting bracket, and the other (more (bent) - by the belt.

The hook is installed to prevent the upper part of the belt from slipping off the air conditioning compressor pulley.

Turn the crankshaft until the belt is positioned on its pulley.

Remove the belt retainer and hook. These tools are disposable and can be discarded after use.

Rotate the crankshaft two revolutions to ensure the A/C compressor drive belt is correctly positioned on the pulleys.

On vehicles with the alternator and A/C compressor located on the same side of the engine, replace the drive belts in the following order.

Open the hood and slightly back out the belt tensioner adjusting bolt.

Remove the right front wheel and the right-hand engine mudguards.

Remove the two tensioner pulley mounting bolts and remove it.

Replace the tensioner pulley every time the belt is changed.

Install the new tensioner pulley without fully tightening its mounting bolts.

Install the new drive belt.

Lay the belt on the pulleys so that the outer groove The pulleys remain free.

Adjust the drive belt tension using the adjusting bolt.

The manufacturer recommends checking the belt tension and monitoring it during adjustment using a special strain gauge tester.

Therefore, there is no data in the technical documentation on the magnitude of the force required to deflect a belt section by a certain amount.

In practice, you can initially roughly estimate the correct belt tension using the "rule of thumb": pressing on the belt section with your thumb and determining the deflection with a ruler.

According to this universal rule, if the distance between the pulley centers is between 180 and 280 mm, the deflection should be approximately 6 mm.

This method can only diagnose excessive belt slack, so for a precise check and adjustment of the tension, contact a service center.

Tighten the tensioner mounting bolts Roller torque of 21 Nm.

Turn the crankshaft three full revolutions to ensure the belt is correctly positioned on the pulleys.

Recheck the belt tension and readjust if necessary.

Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.

You will need a 13 mm wrench.

Remove Press the right front wheel.

Remove the engine mudguards on the right side.

Turn the tensioner pulley clockwise with a wrench and lock the tensioner in this position with a 6 mm diameter pin (e.g., an Allen key).

Renault: Replacing Renault Logan accessory drive belts

Install a new drive belt. Place the belt on the pulleys so that the inner groove of the pulleys remains free.

Remove the pin that secured the tensioner.

Rotate the crankshaft three full revolutions to ensure the accessory drive belt is correctly positioned on the pulleys.

Reinstall the parts in the reverse order of removal.
