Let's look at the removal process using a fully equipped vehicle with a K7J and K7M engine as an example. With a K4M engine, the only difference is the alternator mount.

Disconnect the wiring connector from the alternator by pressing the connector lock with a screwdriver.

Unscrew the wire end securing nut

Disconnect the wire from the generator terminal

Remove the front bumper

Unscrew the air conditioning compressor mounting bolts and, without disconnecting the lines, move the compressor to the side.

Unscrew the power steering pump bolts, leaving the line and hose connected to the pump.

Using a screwdriver, disconnect the wiring harness holder from the accessory bracket.

Remove the three generator mounting bolts.

Renault Alternator Removal and Installation

Move the power steering pump aside so the hose doesn't interfere with the alternator removal, and remove the alternator.

Reinstall the parts in reverse order. Tighten the alternator mounting bolts to 21 Nm (2.1 kgf.m).
