Remove the pump for repair or replacement if it starts making excessive noise during operation or if coolant is leaking.
Disassembling the pump is quite labor-intensive, so if it malfunctions, we recommend replacing the entire pump.
You will need a 10mm and 12mm socket head, and a flat-blade screwdriver.
Drain the coolant (see "Replacing the Coolant").
Remove the timing belt (see "Replacing and Adjusting the Belt Tension, Replacing the Timing Belt Tensioner Pulley").

Remove the eight bolts securing the water pump to the cylinder block.

Pry the water pump up with a screwdriver and remove it.

Clean the cylinder block mating surface.

Apply Loctite 518 anaerobic sealant (or equivalent) to the water pump flange, as shown in the photo.

Tighten the water pump mounting bolts in the sequence shown in the photo.
Tighten the M6 bolts to a torque of 10 Nm (1.0 kgf-m), M8 bolt - torque 22 Nm (2.2 kgf-m).
Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
Fill with coolant.
