We remove the rear bumper for replacement, as well as for repair
We prepare the car and disconnect the negative battery terminal
We remove the rear lights, as described in the article "How to remove and install the lights of a Mazda 6 car"
We unscrew the two upper screws (one each on the left and right sides) of the bumper mounts located under the rear lights
Remove the mudguards of the rear wheels of the car
Remove the rear wheel arch liners
Use a screwdriver to pry the latches (one on the left and right sides), slide them down and take out the caps of the lower mounting of the rear bumper to the body
The location of the lower fastening caps is shown by arrows
We unscrew the two bolts (one each on the left and right sides), fastening the bumper to the wing bracket from the side of the wheel arches
Use a screwdriver to pry off and remove the decorative plugs from the rear bumper on both sides
We unscrew the fastening screws located under the plugs
Squeezing both sides of the bumper and removing the clips of the plastic holder (shown by the arrow) from the holes in the bumper, we remove the rear bumper from the car
Disconnect the parking sensor pads (if installed) and remove the rear bumper from the car
Install the rear bumper and all parts in reverse order
