We remove the rear suspension cross member for replacement, as well as for repair
We install the car on a lift or a viewing ditch
Disconnect the negative battery terminal
Raise the rear of the car

Remove the block of the main mufflers assembled with the connecting pipe, as described in the article "Replacing the elements of the Mazda 6 exhaust system"

We unscrew the nuts (one each on the left and right sides) securing the wire holders of the rear wheel speed sensors to the trailing arms

Unscrew the bolts (one on the left and right side) fastening to the rear wheel hubs and remove the rear wheel speed sensors

Unscrew and remove both rear brake hoses

We unscrew the mounting bolts and remove the parking brake cables from the trailing arms

Disconnect the rear parking brake cables from the rear wheel brakes

We install hydraulic struts under the rear suspension crossbar

We unscrew the lower shock absorber mounting bolts and remove the shock absorbers from the rear suspension knuckles

We unscrew two bolts securing the brackets of the trailing arms of the rear suspension to the body

We unscrew the two nuts (one each on the left and right sides) securing the rear suspension cross member to the rear body

We unscrew the two nuts in front (one each on the left and right side)

Install the rear suspension cross member in reverse order (shock absorbers shown for clarity)
We finally tighten the nuts of the bolts of the cross member on the car standing on the ground
After installing the cross member, we bleed the brake system and, if necessary, adjust the parking brake drive
