The main faults that require removing the gearbox from the vehicle are:

- - difficult gear shifting;
- - spontaneous disengagement or fuzzy engagement of gears;
- - oil leakage through seals and gaskets.
In addition, the gearbox is removed to replace the clutch, flywheel, and rear crankshaft oil seal.
Removing and installing the gearbox is a very labor-intensive job, so be sure to first ensure that its faults are not caused by other reasons (insufficient oil level, defective clutch drive, loose gearbox mounts, etc.).
The gearbox is quite heavy and has an awkward shape to hold, so we recommend Remove it with an assistant.
You will need: 13 mm wrenches. "18", flat-blade screwdriver.
Place the car on a lift or inspection pit.
Remove the crankcase guard and the lower part of the left engine mudguard.
Drain the oil Gearbox.
Remove the battery.
Remove the plastic battery gasket from the battery tray.
Remove the air filter inlet hose.
Remove the engine control unit.
Remove the right and left mounting blocks.
It is not necessary to remove the engine control unit and mounting blocks.
Their removal allows easier access to the left powertrain mount mount.
Loosen the clamp securing the gearbox control rod to the gearshift lever.
Mark the relative positions of the rod and lever using any available method (e.g., paint) to avoid disturbing the drive adjustment during reassembly. Slide the clamp along the rod.
And disconnect the rod and lever.
Press a pointed object on the speed sensor wiring harness connector clip and disconnect the connector.
Disconnect the clutch release cable from the clutch release fork and the bracket on the gearbox.
Remove the two bolts securing the ground wires to the gearbox and disconnect the wires.
Use a screwdriver to pry the connector on the wiring harness connector of the reverse light switch and disconnect the connector from the switch.
Remove the engine harness from the holder on the gearbox and move it to the side.
Remove the two bolts securing the top dead center sensor to the clutch housing and move the sensor and wiring harness to the side.
Press the locking button on the oxygen sensor wiring harness connector, disconnect the connector, and remove the harness connector from the holder on the gearbox.
Remove the gearbox breather hose from the holder.
On both sides of the car, remove the two bolts securing the front brake calipers to the steering knuckles, move the calipers to the side without disconnecting the brake hoses, and secure them in place using any available method (for example, by tying them with wire to the front suspension springs).
Disconnect the steering rods from the steering knuckle arms, unscrew the two nuts securing the shock absorber struts to the steering knuckles, and remove the bolts from the knuckle and strut holes.
Disconnecting the front brake calipers, steering rods, and shock absorber struts is necessary to be able to disconnect the inner joints of the front wheel drives from the gearbox without removing the drives themselves.
By moving the steering knuckles to the sides, disconnect the inner joints of the front wheel drives from the gearbox (see "Replacing the front wheel drives on a Renault Logan").
When disconnecting the inner joint of the left front wheel drive from the gearbox, be careful not to drop the joint rollers into the gearbox housing if they are loose on the three-pin hub journals. hinge.
Remove the starter.
Remove the four bolts securing the oil pan to the clutch housing.
Remove the subframe.
When removing the subframe from the gearbox, disconnect the rear mount of the powertrain.
Remove the two upper transmission-to-engine mounting bolts.
Install reliable supports under the engine and gearbox.
Remove the left powertrain mount.
Unscrew the two nuts securing the lower gearbox to the engine on the left and right sides.
Move the gearbox back until the clutch housing studs come out of the cylinder block holes.
At the same time, the input shaft of the gearbox should come out of the clutch driven disk hub.
Move the gearbox back as far as possible, remove the support from under it, and tilt the rear part With the gearbox down, remove it from the vehicle.
When removing the gearbox, do not rest the end of the input shaft against the diaphragm spring petals to avoid deforming them.
Reinstall the gearbox and all removed parts and assemblies in the reverse order of removal.
Before installing the gearbox, we recommend lubricating the input shaft splines and the outer surface of the clutch release bearing guide sleeve with a thin layer of high-temperature grease.
Check the alignment of the clutch driven disc using a special mandrel (see "Replacing the Renault Logan Clutch").
Fill the gearbox with oil.
