Parking assist system components are replaced when they fail.
The ultrasonic sensors built into the vehicle's rear bumper «measure» the distance between the vehicle and an obstacle when reversing.
The measurement is accompanied by audible signals whose frequency increases as the vehicle approaches the obstacle: as soon as the distance between the vehicle and the obstacle approaches 40 centimetres, the signal sounds continuously.
An audible signal sounds when reversing.
If the audible signal is prolonged (3 seconds), it indicates a malfunction.
Replacing the parking system sensors
Tools required: Torx T20, T30, flat-blade screwdriver.
Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
Replacing the parking control unit
Required: Torx T30 key, plastic trim removal tool or flat-blade screwdriver.
Disconnect the battery negative terminal.
Refit the unit in reverse order.
Replacing the parking assist system buzzer
Tools required: Torx T20, E30 keys, plastic trim removal tool or flat-blade screwdriver.
Refit the buzzer in reverse order.
