The car uses a speed control system to help the driver not exceed the set speed of the car

Controlling the speed limiter

Renault Arcana speed control modes

  • 1 - main switch "On / off";
  • 2 - a reminder of the saved speed limit value and a step increase in the speed limit (RES / +);
  • 3 - activation, memorization and stepwise decrease of the speed limit value (SET/-);
  • 4 - put the system into standby mode (with storing the value of the speed limit) (0).

Enable speed limiter

Press switch 1 from the side (Speed limiter on)

Renault Arkana speed control modes

Warning light 6 lights up orange and, depending on the vehicle, the message "LIMIT" appears on the instrument panel or the LIMIT warning light comes on together with dashes.

This means that the speed limiter is enabled and is waiting to enter and save the speed limit value

To save the current speed value as the set speed limit, press switch 3 (SET/-): instead of dashes, the speed limit value will appear.

The minimum value that can be memorized is 30 km/h

Driving a car with a speed limit set

When a speed value is memorized, the vehicle is steered in the same way as a vehicle without a speed limiter until the vehicle speed is equal to the set speed value

After the speed reaches the memorized speed, any action on the gas pedal will not allow you to exceed the speed, except in emergency cases

Change the speed limit value

You can change the set limiter speed by pressing:

  • - button 2 (RES/+) to increase speed;
  • - button 3 (SET/-) to decrease the speed

Please note that the speed limit function does not affect the vehicle's braking system

If the speed limiter does not turn on (after several attempts to turn it on), you need to contact an authorized dealer

Speed limit exceeded

At any moment, you can exceed the speed limiter value by pressing the accelerator (gas) pedal sharply and all the way

During the overspeed time, the vehicle's set speed limit flashes on the instrument panel

Then we release the accelerator (gas) pedal: the previously selected speed mode will be restored as soon as the vehicle speed is lower than the previously set speed value

Cases where the limiter cannot maintain the given rate limit

When the car is accelerating on a steep descent, the system is unable to keep the speed at the set speed limit:

- when the limit is exceeded, the set speed limit value flashes on the instrument panel and, depending on the vehicle configuration, a sound signal is emitted regularly, informing about this situation.

Putting the system to standby

Renault Arcana speed control modes

Speed limiter action is suspended when switch 4 (0) is pressed

In this case, the speed limit value is stored in the memory and, depending on the vehicle equipment, the message "MEM" appears on the instrument panel or the MEM lamp lights up along with the display of the saved speed value

Retrieving a saved speed limit

If a speed limit value has been memorized, it can be recalled by pressing switch 2 (RES/+) once

When the speed limiter is in standby mode, pressing switch 3 (SET/-) will reactivate the speed limiter, but the previously stored speed limit value will not be taken into account.

The system will take the current vehicle speed as the new limit

system shutdown

If you press switch 1, the speed limit mode will be canceled without saving the speed limit value.

Orange warning light (Speed limiter on) on the instrument panel goes out, confirming that the system has been switched off

Drive speed controller

Cruise control is a function that keeps the vehicle moving at the speed you set; this speed is called variable speed

The set speed of the vehicle maintained by the speed controller must be greater than 30 km/h.

This system is an additional tool that makes driving easier

Do not use the cruise control in heavy traffic, on winding or slippery roads, or in adverse weather conditions

Controls

Renault Arcana speed control modes

  • 1 - main switch "On / off";
  • 2 - reminder of the saved speed value and increase the speed to the set one (RES / +);
  • 3 - switch to enable, remember and reduce the set speed (SET/-);
  • 4 – switching the system to standby mode (with storing the value of the set speed) (0).

Enable

Press switch 1 from the side (Turning on the speed controller)

Warning light 6 lights up green and (depending on vehicle equipment) the message "CRUISE" appears on the instrument panel or the CRUISE warning light comes on together with a dash.

This indicates that the speed controller is ready to enter a set speed

Enabling speed controller

When the current vehicle speed is stable (above 30 km/h), press switch 3 (SET/-): the function is activated and the current speed is memorized

Instead of dashes, the cruise control setpoint is displayed and cruise control activation is confirmed by the message (depending on the vehicle) "CRUISE" or the CRUISE lamp turning on, and the green lamp 5 turning on (Turn on the speed controller) and signal lamp 6 (Enable speed control)

Driving a car

After memorizing the speed setpoint and turning on the speed controller, you can release the accelerator (gas) pedal

It should be noted that when driving a car, the feet should be close to the pedals in order to quickly react in a dangerous situation

Changing the set value of vehicle speed

Renault Arcana speed control modes

You can change the set speed by pressing the buttons in sequence:

  • - button 2 (RES/+) to increase speed;
  • - button 3 (SET/-) to decrease the speed

Exceeding the speed supported by the speed controller

The set speed can be exceeded at any time by pressing the accelerator pedal

While the speed is exceeded, the vehicle speed value set for the cruise control system flashes on the instrument panel

Release the accelerator (gas) pedal: after a few seconds, the car will automatically return to the initial set speed

Cases when the regulator cannot maintain the given speed limit

When driving on a steep incline or uphill, speed control is not supported by the system:

- in this case, the set speed value flashes on the instrument panel, informing about it

Putting the system to standby

The function goes to standby when pressed:

  • -switch 4 (0);
  • - brake pedal;
  • - Clutch pedal or put the lever in the neutral position for a car with an automatic transmission.

In these 3 cases, and depending on the vehicle, the variable speed setpoint is stored in memory and the message "MEM" appears on the instrument panel or the MEM warning light comes on

Switching the speed controller function to o mode waiting is confirmed by turning off the signal light (Turn on the speed controller)

Recalling the set vehicle speed

The saved variable speed value can be called up by activating the system if road conditions are favorable for driving at a constant speed

If the vehicle speed is above 30 km/h, press switch 2 (RES/+).

When recalling a speed value, turning on the speed controller is confirmed by turning on the signal lamp (Turning on the speed controller)

Note:

- if the previously recorded speed is significantly higher than the current speed, the car will start accelerating sharply until it reaches the set limit

When the speed control is in standby mode, pressing the 3 (SET/-) button will reactivate the function, but without saving the previously set speed.

The current vehicle speed is now taken into account as the regulated speed

Shutting down the system

When switch 1 is clicked (Speed controller enable/disable) the cruise control is deactivated

In this case, the speed value is no longer stored in memory.

Turn off two signal lights (Enable/disable speed control) and (Speed governor enable/disable) on the instrument panel confirms the deactivation of the function

Putting the cruise control function to standby or disabling it does not result in a rapid reduction in driving speed.

To brake, press the brake pedal.
