According to the manufacturer's recommendation, the brake fluid should be replaced after 6 years of operation or after 90 thousand kilometers (whichever comes first)

Brake fluid is very hygroscopic (it absorbs moisture from the air), which, in addition to the appearance of corrosion of brake system parts, lowers the boiling point of the fluid itself, and this can lead to brake failure with frequent intensive braking.

Therefore, we recommend replacing the brake fluid at least once every 2 years.

Before replacing the brake fluid, check the tightness of the hydraulic drive and fix the malfunctions. You will need: an 8 pipe wrench, brake fluid, a rubber or transparent hose, and a transparent vessel.

It is recommended to replace the brake fluid with an assistant, having previously installed the car on an inspection ditch, an overpass or a lift (you do not need to remove the wheels).

Apply DOT-4 brake fluid.

The order of fluid replacement in the braking mechanisms:

  • - rear right;
  • - front left;
  • - rear left;
  • - front right.

Do not reuse the liquid drained from the system: it is polluted, saturated with air and moisture, and always add only new liquid of the brand that was previously filled into the system.

Brake fluid is hygroscopic (it absorbs moisture from the surrounding air), so it cannot be stored in an open container.

Take care of nature!

Do not drain used brake fluid into the soil or sewer system. You can find out about the location of waste service fluid collection points in your area from local authorities.

Unscrew the cap of the brake master cylinder reservoir.

Fill the tank with clean brake fluid up to the bottom edge of the filler neck.

Brake the car with the parking brake and install anti-rollback stops ("shoes") under the rear wheels.

Clean the air outlet valves from dirt and remove the protective caps of the front and rear brake cylinder valves.

Put the rubber hose on the air outlet valve of the right rear brake mechanism and immerse the end of the hose in a clean, transparent vessel.

The assistant should abruptly press the brake pedal four to five times (with an interval between 1-2 seconds).

Then hold the pedal down.

Unscrew the air outlet valve by ½ - ¾ turns. Old (dirty) brake fluid will start flowing out of the hose.

At this time, the brake pedal should smoothly reach the stop.

As soon as the liquid stops flowing out, turn off the air outlet valve. Constantly monitor the liquid level, preventing it from falling to the "MIN" mark on the tank wall.

If necessary, add new brake fluid to prevent air from entering the hydraulic drive.

Thus, the gradual displacement of the old liquid by the new one is ensured without draining the hydraulic system.

In the same way, replace the brake fluid in the left front brake mechanism.

Similarly, replace the fluid in the second circuit (first in the left rear brake mechanism, then in the right front one).

Repeat steps 5-7 until the fluid in the drive is completely replaced (clean liquid without air bubbles should flow out of the hose).

After replacing the brake fluid, be sure to put protective caps on the exhaust valves.

Top up the brake fluid to the level between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the tank wall. Turn off the tank cap.

Check the quality of the work done. Press the brake pedal several times and the pedal force should be the same each time you press it.
