We replace steering gear components if they are worn out or damaged due to improper use.
Replacing Steering Rods and Boots
You will need side cutters.
Remove the steering gear.
Remove the tie rod end. (See "Replacing the Tie Rod Ends" below).

Use side cutters to cut the protective boot mounting clamp, remove the clamp (replace the clamp with a new one when installing)

Remove the protective boot.5. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
Replacing the steering rod
You will need a 32 mm spanner.
Remove the steering gear.
Remove the steering rod protective boot.

Unscrew the steering rod from the steering rack.
Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
Tie rod mounting nut tightening torque 34 Nm
Replacing the tie rod ends
You will need 16mm, 19mm, 21mm wrenches, a TORX 130mm socket, a wheel lug wrench, and a ball joint puller.
It's easier to perform this work on a lift. This can also be done with the vehicle supported on jack stands.
The example of replacing the end piece shows the left lateral tie rod; replace the right end piece in the same way.
The threads on the left end piece are right-handed, while the threads on the right end piece are left-handed.
Raise and support the front of the vehicle on the side where the end piece is being replaced.
Remove the wheel.
Apply the parking brake and chock the rear wheels.
If the fasteners are heavily soiled, clean them with a wire brush and treat them with a penetrating lubricant, such as WD-40.

Loosen the nut securing the ball joint pin to the steering knuckle arm, holding the pin from turning.

Install a ball joint puller and press the pin out of the steering knuckle arm boss.
If you don't have a puller, you can knock the ball joint pin out by hitting the end of the boss with a hammer. Pivot arm, striking along the axis of the arm.

Remove the pin from the pivot arm boss.

Loosen the tie rod end lock nut.

Mark the position of the tie rod end to avoid disturbing the wheel alignment when installing the new one.

Unscrew the end, counting the number of turns to avoid changing the wheel alignment when installing the new end.
If necessary, hold the tie rod by the flats (shown by the arrow) with a wrench to prevent it from turning.
Install the new end in the reverse order of removal; screw it onto the tie rod by the number of turns counted during removal (the end must be screwed on up to the mark).
Tightening torque of the lock nut: 50 Nm (5.0 kgfm), tie rod end ball joint nuts 37 Nm (3.7 kgfm).
Check and, if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment angles at a service station.
Removing and Installing the Steering Wheel
Remove the steering wheel when removing the instrument panel, for replacement, and for repairing and adjusting the steering.
You will need a T50 TORX wrench.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Set the steering wheel to a straight-ahead position.
Removing the Driver's Airbag
You will need a T30 Torx wrench to remove the airbag.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Attempting to remove the airbag without disconnecting the power supply may result in to unexpected deployment of the airbag;
- — proceed with further operations to remove the airbag only after the initiator capacitor has been completely discharged.
After disconnecting the wire from the negative terminal of the battery, wait at least 10 seconds for the capacitor to discharge;
- — do not disassemble the airbag module;
- — do not drop the airbag module or allow water, grease, or oil to come into contact with it;
- — the airbag module removed from the vehicle must be stored on a flat horizontal surface, with the module facing up;
- — do not expose the airbag module to temperatures above 95˚ C;
- — when installing the module in the steering wheel of the vehicle, stay outside the deployment area of the airbag;
- — when turning on the ignition for the first time after installing the airbag, be outside the vehicle and turn on the ignition switch by reaching under the lower Steering column cover.

Unscrew the left screw securing the airbag in the steering wheel hub.

Also unscrew the right screw securing the airbag.

Lift the airbag module

Pull the airbag away from the steering wheel hub and unfasten the airbag wiring harness connector clip.

Disconnect the wiring harness from the airbag module.

Removing the module.

Remove the steering wheel mounting bolt, holding the wheel from turning.
Secure the steering wheel You can prevent the steering wheel from turning using the ignition locking mechanism.
To do this, remove the key from the ignition and turn the steering wheel until the anti-theft device locks the shaft.
After loosening the steering wheel mounting bolt, disengage the anti-theft device by inserting the key into the ignition and return the steering wheel to the straight-ahead position.
Do not completely remove the steering wheel mounting bolt to avoid injury when pulling the wheel off the steering shaft splines.
Finally remove the bolt only after the wheel has been removed.

Remove the steering wheel from the steering shaft

Remove the wire through the hole With the airbag connector and remove the steering wheel.
Reinstall the steering wheel and removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
Replace the steering wheel mounting bolt each time the steering wheel is removed.
Tighten the steering wheel mounting bolt to 44 N⋅m (4.4 kg⋅cm).
Removing the Steering Column
Removing the steering column for replacement or repair.
You will need a 13 mm spanner.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Remove the steering wheel, first setting it to the straight-ahead position.
Remove the steering column paddles and connector.
Remove the ignition switch.

Under the instrument panel, loosen the nut and remove the bolt securing the steering shaft and steering gear shaft.

Remove the four mounting bolts.

Remove the steering column.
Reinstall the parts in reverse order.
