At each maintenance it is necessary to check the condition of the braking mechanisms.

The methods of checking the brakes of the car are described in the article - Checking and adjusting the brakes of Renault Sandero

Replacement of front wheel brake pads

The pads are replaced when the pads wear out, the work surfaces are oiled, there are deep furrows or chips.

The pads need to be replaced with a set of four pieces, two on each side.

You will need keys for 13, 17 and screwdrivers

Remove the outer brake pad from the guide

We lower the caliper into place and sink the piston of the working cylinder by inserting a screwdriver between the caliper and the brake disc, shifting the caliper outward.

We fold the caliper up and remove the inner brake pad from the guide.

Lubricate the guide fingers of the caliper with grease, for this

Removing the guide finger

Lubricate it with grease. We install the finger in the guide of the pads in reverse order.

If the guide covers have deteriorated, they must be replaced.

We install the pads in the guides. Lubricate the threads of the guide finger bolts with a thread lock. We tighten the bolts with a torque of 34 Nm (3.4 kgf.m).

After that, we press the brake pedal several times to bring the brake pads to the disc.

We install the wheel. In the same way, we change the brake pads on the other front wheel.

After replacing the pads, we do a trial check-out and check the brakes.

At the first departure, the effectiveness of the front brakes may be reduced due to the fact that the new pads are not worn and do not fit the entire surface to the brake disc.

Replacing the front wheel caliper

To complete the work, you will need keys for 11, 18.

We remove the caliper from the knuckle and disconnect it from the brake hose by screwing the caliper from the hose tip.

Under the hose, we install a container for draining the brake fluid.

We install the caliper in the reverse order.

When installing the caliper, make sure that the hose is not twisted.

We apply an anaerobic thread retainer to the thread of the mounting bolts of the guide fingers.

After installing the caliper, we pump the brake system (Replacement of brake fluid and pumping of Renault Sandero brakes)

Brake disc replacement

Brake discs are replaced if there are deep ridges, bullies and other defects on them.

We also replace it in case of severe wear of the brake disc.

The minimum permissible thickness of the brake disc is 10.6 mm for vehicles with the K7J, K7M engine.

For vehicles with K4M engine, the minimum disc thickness is 17.7 mm.

If the thickness of one of the disks is less than the specified value, you need to replace both disks.

When replacing the discs, it is necessary to replace the front brake pads.

You will need a Torx T30 key.
