At every maintenance, the condition of the brakes should be checked.

Replacing the brake pads of the brake mechanism of the front wheels

We replace the pads when the pads are worn, the working surfaces are oily, there are deep grooves or chips.

The pads must be replaced in a set of four, two on each side.

You will need keys for 13, 17 and screwdrivers

Remove the front wheel

We unscrew the bolt of the lower guide pin of the caliper

Raise the caliper up

Remove the outer brake pad from the guide

We lower the caliper into place and sink the piston of the working cylinder by inserting a screwdriver between the caliper and the brake disc, moving the caliper outward.

Flip the caliper up and remove the inner brake pad from the guide.

Lubricate the guide pins of the caliper with grease, for this

Lubricate it with grease.

Install the pin in the shoe guide in reverse order.

If the guide covers are damaged, they must be replaced.

Install the pads in the guides.

Lubricate the threads of the guide pin bolts with a thread locker. We tighten the bolts with a torque of 34 Nm (3.4 kgf.m).

After that, press the brake pedal several times to bring the brake pads to the disc.

Installing the wheel.

In the same way, we change the brake pads on the other front wheel.

After replacing the pads, we make a test drive and check the brakes.

At the first ride, the effectiveness of the front brakes may be reduced due to the fact that the new pads are not worn in and do not fit the entire surface of the brake disc.

Replacing the front wheel caliper

To do the job, you will need keys for 11, 18.

Remove the wheel from the side of the work being done

Loosen the brake hose

We unscrew the two bolts securing the guide pads to the steering knuckle

Remove the caliper from the steering knuckle and disconnect it from the brake hose by unscrewing the caliper from the hose end.

Under the hose we install a container for draining the brake fluid.

Install the caliper in reverse order.

When installing the caliper, make sure that the hose is not twisted.

On the thread of the rail mounting bolts fingers, apply an anaerobic thread lock.

Replacing the brake disc

We replace brake discs if they have deep scratches, scuff marks and other defects.

Also replace if the brake disc is heavily worn.

The minimum allowable brake disc thickness is 10.6 mm for vehicles with K7J, K7M engines.

For vehicles with K4M engine, the minimum disc thickness is 17.7 mm.

If the thickness of one of the discs is less than the specified value, both discs must be replaced.

When changing discs, it is imperative to replace the front brake pads.

Torx T30 wrench required.

Remove the wheel from the side of the disc being removed

Remove the caliper assembly as described above, but do not disconnect the brake hose and tie the caliper to the suspension spring.

We unscrew the two screws securing the brake disc to the front wheel hub.

Remove the brake disc from the hub

Install the parts in reverse order.

Before installation, we clean the mating surfaces of the hub and disc surfaces from rust and scale.

If you are installing an old disk, file the edges on its working surface with a file.
