The design of the gearbox is discussed in the article - Design features of the rear gearbox VAZ-2123
We wash and clean the gearbox from dirt and oil.
We install the gearbox on a stand or workbench.

With a head of 10, we unscrew the bolt securing the locking plate of the nut of the right differential bearing

Remove the plate. Unscrew the bolt and remove the plate on the left side

We mark the location of the covers with a core

With a head or a key for 17, we unscrew the two bolts securing the cover of the right bearing of the differential box

Removing the bolts

Remove the right bearing cover

Remove the adjusting nut

Remove the outer ring of the differential box bearing.
Similarly, remove the cover, remove the adjusting nut and remove the outer ring of the left bearing of the differential box
Parts for reuse should be marked and stacked in order so that they can be put back into place during assembly.
If we do not change the bearings of the differential box, then we mark their outer rings in order not to confuse them during assembly.

Remove the differential box assembly with the driven gear of the final drive, inner rings, cages and bearing rollers.

We remove the drive gear assembly from the gearbox housing with the adjusting ring, the inner ring, the separator and the rear bearing rollers and the spacer.

Remove the spacer

We strike with a hammer through a drift on the inner ring of the rear bearing of the gearbox

Remove the bearing inner race

Remove the drive gear adjusting ring.
Remove the oil seal from the housing of the gearbox

Remove the oil slinger

Removing the pinion bearing inner race

Using a drift, we knock out the outer ring of the front bearing of the drive gear

Remove the outer ring of the bearing.
Turning the crankcase over, we also knock out the outer ring of the rear bearing of the drive gear.

To disassemble the differential with a puller, we compress the inner ring of the bearing of the differential box.
In the absence of a puller, insert a chisel between the end of the inner ring of the bearing and the differential box

By striking the chisel, we move the inner ring of the bearing

Insert two powerful screwdrivers or mounting blades into the gap

Compress the inner ring of the bearing. We also compress the inner ring of another bearing.

Having clamped the differential box in a vise with soft metal overlays, with a 17 key, unscrew the eight bolts securing the driven gear to the differential box.

Using a hammer with a plastic head, knock down the driven gear from the differential box

Removing the gear

Remove the axis of the satellites

Turning the satellites, take them out of the differential box

Remove side gears

Remove the support washers
We wash the parts of the gearbox, and prepare for assembly
