Removing the lock and its actuator for replacement.
Open the tailgate.
Using a Torx T20 key, undo the two screws securing the door trim.
Prise up the edge of the trim with a flat-blade screwdriver.
Separate it from the door inner panel, overcoming the resistance of the eight clips, and remove it.
To remove the lock barrel, press the yellow plastic clip of the barrel rod on the intermediate lever, turn it about its axis and withdraw the rod end from the hole in the intermediate lever.
Using a 10 mm socket with extension, undo the three nuts securing the flange of the lock barrel body.
Remove it from the door studs together with the electric lock actuator.
Press the clip on the wiring harness connector and disconnect it from the electric actuator.
Remove the lock barrel with the electric actuator.
Using a Torx T20 key, undo the screw securing the electric actuator to the lock barrel body.
Remove the electric actuator rod 1 from the lock barrel lever 2.
To remove the tailgate lock, press the white plastic clip of the lock rod on the intermediate lever, turn it about its axis and withdraw the rod end from the hole in the intermediate lever.
Using a Torx T30 key, undo the two screws securing the lock.
Withdraw it together with the rod through the hole in the door inner panel.
Press the clip, disconnect the wiring connector from the lock limit switch and remove the lock together with the rod.
To remove the intermediate lever of the lock actuator, disconnect both rods from it.
Using a Torx T50 key, undo the screw securing the intermediate lever of the lock actuator and remove the lever.
The length of the rod connecting the intermediate lever to the lock barrel can be altered by means of the threads rolled onto it.
After fitting the lock and its actuator components, the barrel rod latches into the required position with the metal clip, the lock and the barrel then having to be in the free position.
If the tailgate cannot be opened from outside the vehicle, it can be opened from inside the luggage compartment.
To do this, press the lock lever and open the tailgate.
