The injectors are secured to the fuel rail by retainers.

Fuel constantly circulates around the injector body, which prevents the formation of petrol vapour bubbles and facilitates hot engine starting.

If an injector becomes clogged or fails, the following symptoms may occur:

  • rough engine running;
  • difficult engine starting;
  • increased engine idle speed;
  • engine stalling at idle;
  • poor engine response;
  • increased CO and CH content in the exhaust gases;
  • pre-ignition.

To perform this work, you will need the following tools: 10 mm sockets, TORX-E12, screwdrivers.

Prepare the vehicle for the procedure.

Relieve the pressure in the fuel system.

Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

Remove the intake manifold – Renault Megane 2 Intake and exhaust system.

Remove the fuel rail as described above.

When replacing an injector, replace the O-rings.

Checking the injector coil resistance with an ohmmeter

Check the spray pattern and flow rate of the injectors off the vehicle.

Reassemble all components in the reverse order.

Before installing the fuel rail on the engine, fit new O-rings to the injectors, lubricating them with engine oil beforehand.

Install the fuel rail on the engine.

Install the fuel rail retaining bolts.

Tighten the fuel rail retaining bolts to 9 N·m (0.9 kgf·m).

Connect the wiring harness connectors to the injectors.

Connect the fuel pipe to the fuel rail until the spring clip of the connector clicks.

Connect the negative battery terminal. Check the connections for leaks.
