When repairing an engine and its systems, it may be necessary to set the TDC (top dead center) of the piston of the first cylinder in the compression stroke
TDC is set according to the marks on the gears of the camshafts of the intake and exhaust valves (when installed according to the marks on the crankshaft pulley, the piston of either the first or fourth cylinder can be in this position).
After setting the marks on the camshafts, you need to make sure that the marks on the crankshaft pulley match.
If the marks do not match, you need to remove the timing chain and turn the crankshaft until the marks match.
