We also remove the hinges to replace the covers, when gusts or cracks appear.
To replace, you will need tools: side cutters, a beard, a hammer, a puller for circlips
We prepare the car and remove the front wheel drive, as described in the previous article
Cleaning the parts and inspecting the drive
The outer CV joint should turn with a slight effort, without jerking and jamming, radial and axial play
The inner joint of the wheel drive must move in the angular and axial directions with a slight effort, without jerking, jamming and radial play
Protective covers should not be cracked or torn
The wheel drive shaft must not be deformed
To replace the outer hinge, we bite the lock of the large clamp with side cutters and remove the clamp
Clamps are disposable and are usually included with a new hinge
In the same way, remove the small clamp of the cover
Remove the cover from the hinge body
We knock down the hinge clip through the beard, which is locked with a retaining ring
Remove the retaining ring. When assembling, we replace the ring
Remove the protective cover from the drive shaft
After installing the hinge on the shaft, fill its cavity with grease in the amount of 135±6 grams
You can use SHRUS-4 grease
Install the cover of the outer hinge and the hinge in reverse order
Replacing the inner CV joint
To remove the inner hinge of the right wheel drive, remove the clamp securing the hinge cover to its body
Remove the small clamp of the cover
Disconnect the inner hinge housing from the drive
Spread the retaining ring of the hinge hub with a puller
And remove the ring, removing it from the groove of the shaft
Remove the hub with rollers from the shaft splines
Remove the protective cover from the shaft
When installing the hinge, be sure to replace the cover with a new one
We wash all the parts with kerosene until the old grease is completely removed
Fill the inner cavity and cover with lubricant in the amount of 145±6 grams
We assemble the inner hinge in reverse order.
