Before disassembling, clean the outer surface of the gearbox with a cleaner or solvent.
Remove the transfer case and clean it of dirt
Drain the oil from the transfer case.
Before inspecting the gearbox parts, wash them thoroughly.
This will make it easier to detect wear and damage to the parts.
