The air filter is installed in the engine compartment and mounted on rubber supports.
The filter element of the air filter is made of paper with a large area of filtering surface.
Outdoor air is sucked in through the air intake pipe located below the air filter housing.
The air then passes through the air filter element, mass air flow sensor, intake pipe hose and throttle body.
After the throttle pipe, the air is directed into the channels of the receiver and the intake pipe, and then into the cylinder head and into the cylinders.
Replacing the filter element
Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the four screws securing the top cover of the air filter housing
With your finger, move the yellow limiter of the retainer block of the wiring harness to the mass air flow sensor
Press the latch and disconnect the wiring harness block from the mass air flow sensor
Lift up the top cover of the air filter housing
Removing the air filter element
Use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust and debris from the lower air filter housing.
Using a damp rag, we remove dust deposits from the internal surfaces of the air filter housing.
We install the new filter element so that its corrugations are parallel to the arrows inside the lower part of the air filter housing.
Install the upper part of the air filter housing and tighten the screws. Screw tightening torque 1.7÷2.3 Nm.
Removing the air filter housing
Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the clamp that secures the air hose to the mass air flow sensor
We move the yellow limiter of the retainer of the engine control system wiring block to the mass air flow sensor.
Press the latch and disconnect the wire block from the sensor
Using a 10 key, we unscrew the two bolts securing the mass air flow sensor
Remove the mass air flow sensor from the air filter housing
With an 8 head, unscrew the two bolts securing the front air filter bracket to the upper frame of the radiator
We unscrew the two bolts securing the rear bracket to the left side member of the car
Remove the air filter together with the brackets.
If necessary, you can remove the rubber feet and remove the brackets.
Install the air filter housing in reverse order.
The tightening torque of the mass air flow sensor mounting bolts is 1.7÷2.3 Nm.
