The front wheel bearing is replaced when worn.
A sign of bearing wear is the appearance of noise and knocking when the car is moving (noise turning into a whistle).
You can determine the wear by the presence of play when the suspended wheel is rocked in a vertical plane.
We install the car on a lift or an inspection ditch and place wheel chocks under the rear wheels
Unscrew the wheel nuts and remove the decorative cap
Tighten the two nuts to fix the wheel
Unlock the hub nut with a beard
Loosen the hub nut and wheel nuts
Raise the front of the car, set the stops and finally unscrew the hub nut
Unscrew the wheel nuts and remove the wheel
Disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle lever using a puller
If a wheel speed sensor is installed, then unscrew the sensor mounting bolt and remove the sensor.
Unscrew the bolt securing the brake hose holder to the steering knuckle
Leave the brake hose to the side
Disconnect the front suspension arm from the steering knuckle
Unscrew the brake caliper mounting bolts
We remove the caliper and fix it with wire on the coils of the spring, without disconnecting the brake hose from it and without allowing tension or kinks in the hose
We remove the shank of the outer CV joint from the front wheel hub, moving the telescopic rack to the side, and hang the drive shaft on the wire
Remove the brake disc
Unscrew the nuts securing the shock strut to the steering knuckle
We remove the bolts from the holes in the steering knuckle and the rack bracket
Remove the steering knuckle assembly with the hub
We press the hub and the hub bearing out of the steering knuckle, for this:
Pry off the hub bearing circlip with a screwdriver
And remove the ring
We press out the hub, through a mandrel of a suitable size
Install the cup puller and press the bearing out of the hole in the steering knuckle
If there is no puller, we knock out the bearing using a mandrel of a suitable size
We clean the parts, inspect, lubricate the inner surface of the knuckle seat and the outer surface of the hub with a thin layer of grease
We press the new bearing into the hole of the steering knuckle until it stops
We press the hub until it stops, resting the inner ring of the bearing on a suitable mandrel
Install the steering knuckle and all parts in reverse order
Having lowered the car to the ground, you need to rock it several times.
After that, finally tighten the screw connections of the suspension with the car on the ground.
Fastening torques Nm:
- - wheel nuts - 98±10;
- - nut of the bolt of fastening of the shock strut of the front suspension to the steering knuckle - 110;
- - bolt for fastening the brake hose holder to the steering knuckle - 13;
- - nut for fastening the ball joint pin to the steering knuckle - 71;
After that, you need to press the brake pedal all the way down several times.
This is necessary to select the gaps in the brake mechanisms that appeared after they were removed.
After that, you need to check the angles of the front wheels
