Engine parts under load are lubricated under pressure, the rest of the parts are lubricated by splashing oil flowing from the gaps between moving parts or directed spray
The system consists of a sump that is attached to the oil sump, an oil pump with an oil receiver, a full-flow filter, a pressure reducing valve, a sensor and oil channels.
The oil pump housing is attached with three screws and a bolt to the timing chain cover.
The pump draws oil from the engine oil sump through an oil receiver with a strainer.
Then the oil flows through the oil filter with a filter element into the main oil line located in the body of the cylinder block.
The channels for supplying oil to the main bearings of the crankshaft depart from the main oil line.
Oil is supplied to the connecting rod bearings through channels made in the body of the crankshaft.
A vertical channel for supplying oil to the camshaft bearings departs from the main oil line.
In addition, from the main engine oil line, oil is supplied under pressure to the timing chain tensioner and to the intake valve timing system.
In order to lubricate the camshaft bearings, oil from the oil line in the cylinder head is supplied through separate channels.
Excess oil is drained from the cylinder head into the oil sump through a vertical drain channel.
Changing the engine oil and oil filter
According to the recommendation of the factory, the oil and filter should be changed after 20 thousand kilometers.
But you need to take into account what oil was used, and under what conditions.
To replace, you will need engine oil, an oil filter, a cleaning cloth, an oil drain container of about 5 liters, a special key for unscrewing the filter, a socket head or a 17 ring wrench.
Oil recommended by the manufacturer:
SHELL Helix PLUS 5W-30/5W-40, SHELL Helix ULTRA 0W-40/5W-30/5W-40, Exxomobil SHC Formula MB 5W-30, ACEA A3 quality level and API service SL or higher
The volume of oil to be filled is 3.3 liters, taking into account the capacity of the oil filter.
It is advisable to drain the oil after a trip or you need to warm up the engine before draining.
The oil must be filled with the same brand as was used in the engine or the system must be flushed with flushing oil.
We install the car on a lift or a viewing ditch
Turn the oil filler cap counterclockwise
Remove the cork
Clean the drain plug in the pan
Loosen the drain plug with a wrench
We substitute the container for the drained oil and unscrew the plug to the end (you need to take into account that the oil is hot) and drain the used oil
Checking the gasket of the drain hole
We twist the drain plug with a torque of 34.3-44.1 Nm
Unscrew the oil filter and remove it
If the filter cannot be unscrewed by hand, then we cut it with a special key
Remove the filter
We wipe the mating surface of the cylinder block flange with a rag from dirt and old oil
Fill the new filter about 1/3 of the volume with clean engine oil
Lubricate the O-ring of the new filter with engine oil
We twist the filter into place by hand without the use of tools by ¾ turn from the moment the sealing ring and the flange of the cylinder block come into contact
Fill engine oil
Control the oil level on the dipstick
Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
The emergency oil pressure warning light should go out 2-3 seconds after the engine is started.
We stop the engine, check the oil level and check the tightness of the filter and drain plug.
