The hoses and pipes of the vehicle's brake system must be replaced after 7 years of operation or after 100,000 km of run
We also replace the hoses if they have cracks, scuffs, swelling, rubber peeling.
Abrasions and kinks are also not allowed on the brake pipes.
Especial attention should be paid to hoses, which can burst unexpectedly when braking.
Replacing brake hoses
To replace the hoses, you will need wrenches for 10, 12, screwdrivers
And a special 11 wrench for brake pipe nuts
Special wrenches for unscrewing the nuts must be used, as the nuts of the pipelines are overtightened and corroded. When unscrewing with simple wrenches, the edges of the nuts are crushed.
To replace the front brake hose, you need to brake the car with the parking brake and place the stops under the rear wheels.
For convenience, remove the wheel from the side of the work performed
Unscrew the nut securing the brake hose tube
To prevent the liquid from flowing out, use the cap from the bleed valve to stop the hole in the tube
Pry off with a screwdriver and remove the locking bracket of the brake hose
Remove the tip of the brake hose from the bracket
Unscrew the bolt fitting that secures the hose tip to the working cylinder of the front wheel brake mechanism
Disconnect the tip of the brake hose from the working cylinder
The bolt fitting is sealed with two washers, which must be replaced during assembly
We unscrew the bolt of the bracket for attaching the brake hose to the steering knuckle and move the bracket to the side
Remove the front wheel brake hose from the car
Install the new hose in reverse order
When installing, make sure that the hose is not twisted along the axis
In the same way, we replace the hose on the other side.
After installing the hoses, we bleed the hydraulic brakes, as described in the article - How to change the brake fluid and bleed the Hyundai Solaris brakes
To replace the rear drum brake hose:
- - turn on the first line dacha with a manual transmission, with an automatic transmission, turn on the gearbox in the “P” position and set the stops under the front wheels
- - raise the rear of the car and place it on supports
Unscrew the nut securing the brake tube to the hose end, keeping the hose end from turning
So that the liquid does not leak out, we plug the end of the tube with a cap from the bleed valve
In the same way, disconnect the tube from the other tip of the brake hose
Pry off with a screwdriver and remove the bracket of the brake hose tip
Remove the tip of the brake hose from the bracket
Unscrew the brake hose bracket bolt
Remove the brake hose from the car
Install the brake hose in reverse order
Also replace the hose on the other side of the car
After replacing the hoses, we bleed the brake system
Rear disc brake hoses are replaced in the same way as front hoses
Replacing brake pipes
The principle of replacing tubes is the same as when replacing brake hoses
You will need the same tools as when replacing hoses
Engage 1st gear (transfer the automatic transmission selector to the “P” position) and install wheel chocks (“shoes”) under the front wheels.
Raise the rear of the vehicle and securely jack it up.
Remove the nut securing the brake pipe to the hose end.
To prevent fluid from leaking out of the brake hose, immediately plug its opening in any way possible.
Unscrew the nut securing the brake pipe to the working brake cylinder
Put aside the phone
Remove the tube from the holder on the rear suspension beam and remove the tube from the car
In the same way, we replace the remaining pipes of the brake system
Install new pipes and bleed the brake system
