Check the level in an automatic transmission every 15,000 km of the car

Oil change is provided every 60 thousand kilometers of the vehicle.

If the oil turns dark and the smell of burnt oil appears, you need to change the oil and determine the cause in the diagnostics.

ELF Renaultmatic D3 SYN oil should be added to the automatic transmission

Checking the level and topping up the oil

Start the engine and warm up the gearbox.

The oil temperature in the gearbox should be 50-80˚ C.

You can take a short drive to warm up faster.

The oil temperature is determined using a diagnostic tester connected to the vehicle's diagnostic socket.

We install the car on a flat area and set the handbrake.

We press the brake pedal and, holding it down, alternately switch the selector to all positions, lingering at each position from “P” to “D”.

To fill the torque converter and automatic transmission hydraulic system with oil.

After that, we switch to neutral "N" and release the brake pedal.

Oil level changes with temperature

We install a wide container under the gearbox to drain the working fluid.

Checking the level and changing the oil in the Renault Duster automatic transmission

Unscrew the plug of the hole to control the level of the working fluid, located in the bottom of the gearbox housing.

At a normal level, the working fluid begins to flow out at a temperature of 35-37˚ C.

A bypass pipe "B" is installed in the hole "A" to control the level, the upper edge of which corresponds to the normal liquid level.

The burning smell of oil in the presence of foreign particles in the oil indicates the need for automatic transmission repair.

If the oil does not start to flow out of the control hole when the temperature rises to 60˚ C, you need to add it.

Disconnect the selector drive cable from the gearbox.

Filling oil in automatic transmission: 2 - filler plug

Unscrew the filler plug located in the upper part of the gearbox housing.

Fill in special oil, pouring it until it starts to flow out of the control hole.

Oil should flow out of the control hole in separate drops.

If it comes out in a continuous stream, drain off the excess until oil drops appear

We tighten the plugs of the control and filling holes with a torque of 35 Nm.

Automatic transmission oil change

We warm up the oil in the automatic transmission to operating temperature by making a short trip

We install the car on a flat inspection ditch.

We move the selector lever to the “P” position and set it to the handbrake.

We substitute a container with a volume of 4 - 5 liters to drain the oil.

Unscrew the drain plug with an 8 mm square.

Drain the oil from the drain (control) hole.

Since there is a level flask inside, not all of the oil will flow out.

After that, unscrew the level flask.

Insert an 8 hexagon into the drain hole, and unscrew the level flask.

Level flask (level control plug masla) is plastic, so it is not necessary to tighten it strongly during installation.

This is what the level flask looks like.

After all the oil has been drained, install and twist the level flask by hand.

We twist the drain control plug by hand, too.

We determine the amount of oil drained from the gearbox. You need to fill in about the same amount.

If the car was on a lift, then lower it and prepare it for filling oil.

Opening the hood.

Loosen the duct clamps and remove it.

Remove the cork.

The plug is sealed with an o-ring.

Insert a funnel with an extension into the filler hole and fill in the oil in the amount of drained oil.

After that, start the car and warm up the engine to operating temperature.

After the engine has warmed up at idle, we switch sequentially through all modes with the selector lever so that the oil spreads over the internal parts of the automatic transmission.

We substitute the container and, with the engine running, unscrew the control plug.

If no oil flows out or the volume of drained oil is less than 0.1 l, do the following:

  • - stop the engine and tighten the drain plug;
  • - add 0.5 l of oil;
  • - let the gearbox cool down to a temperature of 50˚ C;
  • - let the engine idle;
  • - we are waiting for the temperature to rise to 60±1˚ С;
  • - substitute the container under the cork;
  • - unscrew the drain plug.

It is necessary to repeat these operations until more than 0.1 l of oil has drained into the container.

We twist the plugs and install all the parts in the reverse order.
