We replace the crankshaft seals when oil leaks from under the cuffs, as well as during engine overhaul
Replacing the front crankshaft oil seal
We prepare the car for the task and install it on a viewing ditch or lift
Disconnect the negative battery terminal
Remove the cover of the gas distribution mechanism, as indicated in the article "How to replace the timing chain of a Mazda 6 car"
We press out the old oil seal using a suitable mandrel
Lubricating the working surface of the new cuff
We install the cuff, aligning it with the working edge inside the engine, and press it in until it stops using a mandrel or a suitable tool head
Replacing the rear crankshaft oil seal
Remove the gearbox
Remove the clutch
Remove the flywheel
Inspecting the gland. If the tightness of the stuffing box is broken, an oil leak will be visible in its lower part
We unscrew the six bolts securing the oil seal holder to the cylinder block
Pry off the oil seal holder with a screwdriver
And remove the holder assembly with the stuffing box
Lubricate the working lip of the new oil seal with engine oil
We install the oil seal holder on the cylinder block, aligning the oil seal with the working edge inside the engine and carefully fill the working edge on the crankshaft journal
Tighten the bolts securing the gland holder evenly and crosswise to a torque of 8-11 Nm
