If oil leaks through the crankshaft rear oil seal, the clutch will splatter and traces of oil will splatter at the junction of the gearbox with the engine.
Of course, you need to take into account that oil can leak from under the gearbox input shaft seal.
You can tell which seal is leaking by smell.
Engine oil and gear oil have a different smell.
Before changing the crankshaft seals, you need to make sure that the crankcase ventilation system is clean and that the ventilation hoses are not pinched.
Replacing the front crankshaft oil seal
Preparing the car for the task
We install the car on a lift or a viewing ditch
Disconnect the negative battery terminal
Remove the right front wheel

Remove the accessory drive belt
Unscrew the pulley mounting bolt, keeping the pulley from turning
It is possible to engage fifth gear by pressing and holding the brake pedal (performed by an assistant)
Remove the pulley from the crankshaft
Pry off with a screwdriver and remove the oil seal from the timing chain cover
If it is difficult to remove the oil seal with a screwdriver, then we screw two screws into the gland cage and remove the oil seal with pliers
Lubricate the working edge of the new oil seal with engine oil and install it in the timing chain cover, orienting the working edge inside the engine
We press the oil seal into the front cover of the cylinder block until it stops using a mandrel of a suitable size
You can use an old oil seal or a suitable tool head
Install all parts in reverse order.
Tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt to 127.5-137.3 Nm
Replacing the crankshaft rear oil seal
We install the car on a lift or a viewing ditch
Remove the gearbox

Pry off with a screwdriver and remove the oil seal from the socket in the cylinder block
Lubricate the working edge of the new oil seal with engine oil and install it in the socket in the block cylinders, orienting the working edge inside the engine.
We press the oil seal to the stop using a suitable mandrel
Install all parts in reverse order.
