We replace the cylinder head gasket if a leak is detected at the junction of the head with the block.
We also replace the gasket when removing and installing the cylinder head
Preparing the car for the task.
We install the car on a lift or a viewing ditch.
Relieve pressure in the fuel system
To do this, disconnect the wiring harness from the fuel module and, after starting the engine, wait until it stalls.
Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery
Draining the coolant from the engine cooling system
Disconnect the hoses of the engine cooling system from the nozzles located on the cylinder head
Disconnect the wire blocks from the outputs of the engine control system and the solenoid valve of the phase regulator
Disconnect the collector from the cylinder head

We unscrew and remove the bolt of the upper fastening of the chain guide to the cylinder head
Removing the camshafts, described in the article How to remove the Hyundai Solaris engine camshafts
Loosen the ten bolts of the block head in the order indicated in the photo, sequentially
Then we finally unscrew the cylinder head bolts and remove them together with the washers
Remove the block head from the cylinder block
Removing the gasket
We carefully clean the mating surfaces of the head and block
Checking the block head for warping
To do this, put the ruler with an edge on the surface of the head, first diagonally, then in the middle and across.
Measure the gap between the surface of the head and the ruler with a feeler gauge.
The gap should be no more than 0.1 mm. If the gap is larger - change the head
Install the cylinder head in reverse order.
Before installing, remove and from the threaded holes of the head mounting oil and coolant residue
Installing a new gasket
We lubricate the new cylinder head bolts with engine oil
We tighten the cylinder head bolts in the order indicated in the figure in three stages:
- First stage - tighten with a torque of 17.7-21.6 Nm;
- The second stage - we turn in the specified order by 90 °;
- Third stage - turn in the specified order by 100°.
Install all parts in reverse order.
