We remove the belt due to wear or when repairing engine systems
We perform work on a lift or on a viewing ditch
If the car has a power steering, with a head of 17 we loosen the two bolts securing the power steering pump to the bracket
Using two 10 wrenches, unscrew the bolt nut, loosening the belt tension
Remove the power steering pump belt, passing it between the fan impeller blades and the radiator
Remove the alternator drive belt, for this:
- while holding the generator mounting bolt with a 14 wrench, loosen the nut tightening with a 17 wrench
In the same way, we loosen the second bolt of the lower mounting of the generator
In the event that the nuts are tightened strongly, then by removing the front mudguard of the engine, loosen the tightening of these nuts from below the car
Using a 12 key, we loosen the bolt of the upper fastening of the generator
Moving the generator to the cylinder block
Remove the alternator drive belt, passing it between the fan blades and the radiator
Install the belt in reverse order
We tighten the belt, moving the generator away from the engine, while tightening the bolt of the upper fastening of the generator
The deflection in the middle of the upper branch of the belt with a force of 4 kgf should be about 10 mm
If this is not the case, loosen the upper generator mounting bolt and repeat the adjustment
We install and adjust the drive belt of the power steering pump by turning the nut of the adjusting bolt on the pump bracket
The deflection in the middle of the upper branch of the belt should be about 10 mm with a force of 4 kgf
