We remove the steering knuckle and axle shaft for repair, as well as for replacement
Replacing the pivot shaft
We remove the front wheel hub, as indicated in the article "How to replace the bearings and cuffs of the hub of a UAZ-3151, -31512, -31514, -31519"

We unscrew the 14 head with six bolts securing the brake shield and the trunnion to the steering knuckle

Remove the brake shield, being careful not to damage the brake hose
Hang the shield on the tie rod pin

Remove the trunnion with a cardboard gasket

Pulling it out, we take out the axle shaft with a hinge
We clean the internal cavity of the ball joint from old grease
We install a new axle shaft with a hinge, after filling it and the cavity of the ball joint with Litol-24 or SHRUS-4 grease in the amount of 0.5 kg
We install the removed parts in reverse order, lubricating the bronze bushing of the trunnion with the same grease
We adjust the hub bearings ("Adjusting the hub bearings and pivots of the UAZ-3151, -31512, -31514, -31519")
Removing the steering knuckle
Hanging out the front wheel or front axle of the car
To facilitate the work, remove the wheel and brake drum
Disconnect the tie rods from the steering knuckle and tie them with wire to the spring

Using a 14 key, we unscrew the five bolts securing the ball joint to the flange of the axle housing

Remove the turn limit stop
We substitute a support under the steering knuckle

By tapping a wooden block with a hammer, we separate the flanges so that the mounting spatula enters the connector

With a mounting spatula, trying not to damage the cardboard gasket, we wring out and finally separate the flanges

Remove the steering knuckle and cardboard spacer

Install the steering knuckle in reverse order
