We prepare the car for the task, install it on a horizontal platform and remove the wheel from the side of the work being done
Remove the wheel off clutch, for this we clean the outer surface of the hub and the clutch cap from dirt
By turning the switch to the “4x2” position, we turn off the wheel drive
We unscrew the head for 14 six bolts securing the drive flange to the hub
Pull it towards you and remove the coupling with gasket and flange from the splines of the shaft
To disassemble the coupling:
We unscrew the six screws securing the coupling to the flange with a screwdriver and remove the coupling from the flange
Pry off with a screwdriver and remove the retaining ring
Remove the drive spline bushing and washer
We wash the removed parts of the coupling in kerosene or diesel fuel. We dip the clutch in any oil and let it drain off
Install the clutch in the reverse order by moving its switch to the “4x4” position
Unscrew the locknut of the hub bearings and remove the lock washer
Using a 55 mm tubular wrench, unscrew and remove the bearing adjusting nut
Pry off with a screwdriver and remove the lock washer
We pull the hub together with the bearings and the brake drum from the steering knuckle pin
If you remove the hub, the brake pads interfere, by rotating the eccentric bolts, we bring the pads together
Removing the inner race of the outer bearing with rollers
Pry off with a screwdriver and remove the hub cuff
We remove the spacer ring installed under the cuff and the inner ring of the inner bearing
Do not confuse the outer rings of the bearings, as they are matched at the factory according to the contact angle of the rollers with the rings!
We knock out the outer ring of the inner bearing and take out its retaining ring
Similarly, we press out the outer ring of the outer bearing and remove the retaining ring
We wash the inner cavity of the hub and other parts with kerosene or diesel fuel
Lubricate the bearing seats with gear oil
We install the bearings in the reverse order, applying Litol-24 grease to their rings and rollers. We put the same grease between the bearings with a layer 1.5 cm thick
We install the hub and adjust the bearings, as indicated in the article "Adjusting the hub bearings and pivots of the UAZ-3151, -31512, -31514, -31519"
