During operation, tar deposits from crankcase gases accumulate in the crankcase ventilation system
These deposits make it difficult to remove crankcase gases into the engine cylinders for combustion
In this regard, the pressure of the gases inside the engine rises, and oil leaks through the seals
To prevent this from happening, you need to periodically clean and flush the crankcase ventilation system
Preparing the car for the task
Removing the decorative casing of the car, as indicated in the article "Removing the decorative casing and mudguard of the Mazda 6 engine"
Disconnect one end of the crankcase ventilation system tube from the fitting of the cylinder head cover
Disconnect the other end from the air supply hose and remove the crankcase ventilation tube
Remove the cylinder head cover, described in the article "How to replace Mazda 6 cylinder head and cover gasket"
Remove the old cylinder head cover gasket
We wash the oil deflectors, the inner surface of the cylinder head cover and its pipe with gasoline
Set aside the intake manifold
We squeeze the bent antennae of the hose clamp, slide the clamp along the hose and disconnect the hose from the oil separator valve and remove the intake manifold
We unscrew the eight bolts securing the oil separator to the cylinder block
Remove the oil separator
The gasket must be replaced each time the oil separator is removed
Press the valve ring holders with a screwdriver
Remove the valve fixing ring and remove the valve from the oil separator
Rinse the valve and oil separator with gasoline
Checking the valve
Install all parts in reverse order
