We remove the subframe to remove the engine, gearbox, and also when repairing the subframe
Tools will be required: wrenches for 10, 13, 17, socket heads for 13, 14, 16, 18, wire.
We install the car on a viewing ditch or a lift.
Remove the front bumper as described in the article – Removing and installing Renault Duster bumpers.
Removing the mud guards and power plant protection (Removing engine protection, fender liner and mudguards Renault Duster)
Unscrew the catalytic converter suspension mounting bolt
Remove the rear support of the power plant
With a 16 head, unscrew the two bolts securing the cross member to the body
Remove it assembled with the catalytic converter suspension
On the left side of the subframe, with a head of 10, unscrew the bolt securing the holder of the power steering tube
With a 13 head, unscrew the nut of the bolt of the lower fastening of the left subframe bracket, holding the bolt with another wrench
With a head of 13, unscrew the bolt of the upper fastening of the subframe bracket
Remove the bracket. Also remove the right subframe bracket
Disconnect the pins of the lower hinges of both struts of the anti-roll bar from the stabilizer bar
We pry off with a screwdriver and take out two pistons securing the lower radiator deflector and air conditioner condenser
Remove the deflector
And take out the bolt of the left mounting of the power steering radiator
Using a 13 key, we unscrew the bolt of the right fastening of the power steering radiator
We tie the power steering radiator to the front bumper beam
Remove the fasteners of the two upper supports of the fan shroud
Raise the fan casing assembly with the radiator and condenser, removing the pillows of the lower casing supports from the subframe holes
We tie the assembly to the upper cross member of the radiator frame
On both sides of the car, disconnect the front suspension arms from the subframe
With a head of 18, we loosen the tightening of the two bolts of the front fastening of the subframe to the body
On the left side, with a head of 18, we loosen the bolt of the rear fastening of the subframe to the body
With a head of 16, we unscrew the bolt securing the subframe amplifier to the body.
We carry out the same operations on the other side.
To make it convenient to unscrew the steering gear mounting bolts, we lower the subframe a little, for this:
We unscrew the bolts of the front and rear fasteners of the subframe by several turns of thread
With a head of 10, unscrew the two bolts securing the heat shield to the subframe
Unscrew one bolt securing the screen to the bracket
Remove the heat shield
Using a 21 spanner, loosen the bolt of the right fastening of the steering mechanism to the subframe
We unscrew the bolt of the left fastening of the steering mechanism to the subframe
Before unscrewing the bolts of the rear fastening of the subframe, we substitute adjustable stops under it.
Having unscrewed the bolts of the rear mounting of the subframe, remove its two amplifiers.
We lower the rear part of the subframe on an adjustable stop by 90-100 mm and finally unscrew the steering gear mounting bolts.
We unscrew the two bolts of the front fastening of the subframe to the body and remove the subframe assembly with the anti-roll bar.
Install the subframe in reverse order. We tighten the bolts of the subframe to the moment:
- - bolt of the front and rear fastenings of the subframe to the body - 105 Nm;
- - bolt for fastening the subframe reinforcement to the body - 21 Nm.
