We replace the oil sump gasket during an overhaul of the engine and in the presence of oil leakage through the gasket, if tightening the bolts fails to eliminate the leak

To do the job, you need tools: socket heads for 10, torx E8, a wrench for 13, engine oil, a cleaning cloth, a container for draining the oil, sealant.

We install the car on a lift or a viewing ditch.

We remove the engine crankcase protection (article - Removing the engine protection, wheel arch liners and Renault Duster mud flaps)

Drain the oil from the engine (article - Replacing the oil and filter of the Renault Duster engine)

We remove the drive of the right front wheel (article - Removal and repair of front wheel drives Renault Duster)

Unscrew the two lower mounting bolts

Unscrew the four bolts securing the oil pan to the clutch housing

Unscrew the four bolts securing the oil pan to the front crankshaft cover

Unscrew the left mounting bolt

Unscrew the seven bolts of the rear attachment of the pallet to the cylinder block

Unscrew the seven bolts of the front attachment of the pallet to the cylinder block

Pry on with a screwdriver and remove the pallet

We remove the gasket from the crankcase groove, and put a new gasket

We clean the corners of the joints of the pallet with the cylinder block from the remnants of the sealant

We clean the joints of the front crankshaft cover

Having cleared the remnants of the old gasket, we degrease the mating surfaces.

We apply sealant to the corners of the mating points of the pallet with the cylinder block from the flywheel side in the front of the engine

Apply sealant to the back of the engine

Apply sealant to the joints of the front crankshaft cover with the cylinder block from the side of the oil pump in the front and rear of the engine

Install the oil sump, screw in twenty bolts.

Tighten the bolts in the order shown in the figure.

Pre-tightening 8 Nm. Final tightening 14 Nm.

The four bolts securing the oil sump to the clutch housing are tightened to 27 Nm.

Replacing the oil level indicator seal

We take out the oil level dipstick from the engine crankcase

Pry on with a screwdriver and remove the lower O-ring

We also remove the second O-ring.

We install new sealing rings.
