Spanners 8 mm, Torx T-25, a Torx E8 socket and a flat-blade screwdriver will be required.
We disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
We remove the air filter housing cover.
Having prised with a flat-blade screwdriver the terminal of the fuel vapour supply pipe to the throttle body.
We withdraw the pipe terminal from the opening in the throttle body housing.
The connection is sealed by a rubber ring.
On the K4M engine:
We disconnect the throttle actuator cable terminal from the lever.
We disconnect the wiring connector from the throttle position sensor connector.
Using an 8 mm socket, we undo the two bolts securing the throttle body to the resonator.
We remove the throttle body, overcoming the resistance of the sealing ring.
With a screwdriver, we prise the rubber ring out and remove it from the groove of the body union.
We also remove the rubber sealing ring from the other union of the body.
On the F4R engine:
We press the locking element of the wiring connector retainer of the engine management system.
We prise out the wiring connector retainer with a flat-blade screwdriver.
We disconnect the connector from the control unit connector of the throttle body.
Using an E-8 socket with an extension, we undo the right securing screw of the air filter housing to the cylinder head cover.
We undo the left securing screw.
We withdraw the screws from the openings in the air filter housing and the cylinder head cover.
We move the air filter housing off the body union and place it between the front panel and the catalytic converter.
Using an 8 mm socket, we undo the bolt securing the resonator to the throttle body.
We undo the right securing bolt of the throttle body to the cylinder head cover.
We undo the left securing bolt.
We withdraw the throttle body union from the opening in the resonator and remove the throttle body.
If the sealing rings are damaged:
With a screwdriver, we prise out the rubber ring and withdraw it.
To facilitate the connection of the throttle body with the resonator and the air filter housing, we apply a thin layer of silicone grease to the sealing rings.
Before installing the air filter housing, we check the condition of the rubber bush in the connection of the housing with the cylinder head cover union.
If the sealing bush is damaged or has lost its elasticity, we replace it with a new one.
When fitting the air filter housing onto the throttle body union, we ensure the connection of bush 1 of the housing with union 2 of the cylinder head cover.
