A three-phase alternator 5272666 from ZHEJIANG DEHONG is installed on the Cummins ISF2.8 power plant
The generator is a three-phase synchronous electric machine with electromagnetic excitation.
The generator rotor is driven by an auxiliary drive belt.

Technical specifications of the generator:
- - rated voltage - 14 V;
- - maximum current - 120 A;
- - adjustable voltage - 13.5 - 14.2 V.
Possible causes of generator malfunction
- - Cause of malfunction
Remedy
1. When the engine is running, the voltage on the display is below 13.25 V, the battery is discharging:
- - Broken or slipping drive belt
Adjust or replace the belt
- - Broken in the excitation winding power supply circuit
Restore the connection
- - Damaged voltage regulator
Replace the regulator
- - Generator malfunction
Replace the generator
2. When the engine is running, the voltage on the display is above 14.75 V, the battery is overcharging (boiling):
- - Damaged voltage regulator
Replace the regulator
3. Increased generator noise:
- - Generator pulley nut is loose
Tighten the nut
- - Generator bearings are damaged
Replace the bearings
- - Interturn short circuit or short circuit to ground in the stator winding (generator howl)

Removing the generator
To remove the generator, you will need 10 and 13 keys.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal
To make it easier to work, remove the air filter.
Removing the air supply hose.
Removing the auxiliary drive belt (article - Replacing the auxiliary drive belt Cummins ISF2.8).
Unscrew the nut securing the excitation winding power wire
Remove the wire tip from the "L" terminal of the regulator voltage
Unscrew the nut securing the power cable
Remove the wire tip from the "B+" terminal of the generator
Unscrew the left, short bolt
Unscrew the right long bolt of the generator mount
Remove the generator from the mounting bracket
Install the generator in the reverse order.
Tighten the generator mounting bolts to a torque of 46 Nm, in the following sequence: - left short, then right long.
Before installing the genera we extend the generator by several mm, the threaded bushing in the rear paw of the generator.
The bushing is installed in the hole of the paw with tension, so we use a punch with a mandrel of the appropriate size.
