In the gearbox and in the rear axle, you need to check the oil level every 20,000 km of the car's run
It is recommended to change the oil after sixty thousand kilometers of the vehicle.
Brands of oils poured into the gearbox and gearbox
At temperatures from -25 to +40˚ C, Lukoil TM-5 oil SAE 85W-90, API GL-5.
Duplicate oils: "Super T-3 (TM-5)" or "Devon Super T" SAE 85W-90, API GL-5 or TM-3-18 SAE 90, API GL-3.
At temperatures from -40 to +25˚ C, Lukoil TM5 oil SAE 75W-90.
The volume of oil poured into the rear axle gearbox housing is 1.65 liters.
The amount of oil poured into the gearbox is 1.2 liters.
Checking the oil level in the rear axle
We install the car on the inspection ditch.
Unscrew the filler plug.
Check the oil level, which should be at the lower edge of the filler hole.
The requirement that the oil level is not lower than the edge of the filler hole is explained by the fact that the rear hub bearings are lubricated with gear oil from the rear axle housing.
With a low oil level in the crankcase, it will not flow through the crankcase stockings into the hubs and bearings, working without lubrication, will fail.
If necessary, add oil with a syringe until it comes out of the hole.
We wrap the filler plug.
Rear axle oil change
It is advisable to change the oil after a trip while the oil is warm.
We clean the filler and drain plugs from dirt.
We substitute a container to drain the oil from the rear axle housing
Clean the breather by turning its cap
Unscrew the filler plug
Unscrew the drain plug and drain the oil
If the oil is dark in color or metal particles are visible in it, we flush the gearbox.
To do this, install the drain plug in place, having cleaned the magnet from chips.
Pour about 2 liters of a mixture of gear or engine oil with 20–30% kerosene or diesel fuel into the rear axle housing with an oil syringe and replace the filler plug.
Substituting stops under the front wheels, hang out the rear axle.
Starting the engine, turn on the first gear.
After 2-3 minutes, completely drain the flushing oil (draining time is at least 5 minutes).
After cleaning the drain plug again, we wrap it in place.
Removing the filler plug, use an oil syringe to fill the crankcase with fresh gear oil to the level of the filler hole.
Rear wheel bearings are lubricated with gearbox oil.
To fill the hubs with oil, we alternately raise the right and left wheels by 30 cm with a jack and hold in this position for 6–10 minutes.
After that, we check the level and add oil to the gearbox.
Changing the oil in the gearbox
For this work, you will need a 12 hex wrench, a container for draining oil, a syringe - a supercharger.
Drain the gearbox oil immediately after the trip, before it cools down.
We install the car on a lift or a viewing ditch.
Cleaning the breather from dirt
Use a 12" hex wrench to unscrew the drain plug
Drain the oil into a wide container with a volume of at least two liters
If the used oil is dark in color or metal particles are visible in it, we flush the gearbox, for which we install the drain plug in place, cleaning its magnet from steel chips.
Using a 12 hex wrench, unscrew the filler plug on the side of the crankcase.
Pour about one liter of a mixture of gear or engine oil with 20–30% kerosene or diesel fuel into the box with an oil syringe and replace the filler plug
Substituting stops under the front wheels, we hang out the rear wheel or the entire axle.
Having switched on the first gear, we start the engine for 2–3 minutes.
Having installed the car on the wheels, completely drain the flushing oil (draining time is at least 5 minutes).
Having cleaned the drain plug again, we wrap it with a key in place.
Having unscrewed the filler plug, fill the gearbox with fresh gear oil (1.2 l) with an oil syringe.
We wrap the filler plug in place.
