In the gearbox and in the rear axle, the oil level should be checked every 20000 km of the vehicle's run.
It is recommended to change the oil after sixty thousand kilometers of the car.
Oil brands to be poured into gearboxes and gearboxes
At temperatures from -25 to + 40˚С Lukoil TM-5 oil SAE 85W-90, API GL-5.
Duplicating oils: "Super T-3 (TM-5)" or "Devon Super T" SAE 85W-90, API GL-5 or TM-3-18 SAE 90, API GL-3.
At temperatures from -40 to + 25˚C Lukoil TM5 oil SAE 75W-90.
The volume of oil poured into the rear axle gearbox housing is 1.65 liters.
The volume of oil in the gearbox is 1.2 liters.
Checking the oil level in the rear axle
We install the car on a viewing ditch.
Unscrew the filler plug. We check the oil level, which should be at the lower edge of the filler hole.
The requirement that the oil level is not below the edge of the filler hole is due to the fact that the bearings of the rear hubs are lubricated with transmission oil from the rear axle housing.
When the oil level in the crankcase is low, it will not flow over the crankcase stockings into the hubs and the bearings, working without lubrication, will fail.
If necessary, add oil with a syringe until it appears from the hole.
We wrap the filler plug.
Rear axle oil change
It is advisable to change the oil after the trip, while the oil is warmed up.
We clean the filler and drain plugs from dirt.
We substitute a container for draining oil from the rear axle crankcase
We clean the breather by turning its cap
Unscrew the filler plug
Unscrew the drain plug and drain the oil
If the oil is dark in color or metal particles are visible in it, we wash the gearbox.
To do this, we install the drain plug in place by removing the chips from the magnet.
Pour about 2 liters of a mixture of transmission or engine oil with 20-30% kerosene or diesel fuel into the rear axle crankcase with an oil syringe and replace the filler plug.
Substituting stops under the front wheels, we hang out the rear axle. After starting the engine, we include the first gear.
After 2–3 minutes, completely drain the flushing oil (drain duration is at least 5 minutes).
Having cleaned the drain plug again, we wrap it in place.
After unscrewing the filler plug, fill the crankcase with fresh transmission oil with an oil syringe to the level of the filler hole.
The rear wheel bearings are lubricated with oil from the gearbox.
To fill the hubs with oil, jack the right and left wheels alternately by 30 cm and hold them in this position for 6-10 minutes.
After that, we check the level and add oil to the gearbox.
Changing the oil in the gearbox
For this work, you will need a 12 hex wrench, a container for draining the oil, a syringe - a blower.
We drain the oil from the gearbox immediately after the trip, until it has cooled down.
We install the car on a lift or a viewing ditch.
We clean the breather from contamination
Turn off the drain plug with a "12" hexagon wrench
We drain the oil into a wide container with a volume of at least two liters
If the used oil is dark in color or metal particles are visible in it, we rinse the gearbox, for which we install the drain plug in place by cleaning its magnet from steel shavings.
Using a "12" hex key, unscrew the filler plug on the side of the crankcase.
Fill the box with an oil syringe about one liter of a mixture of transmission or engine oil with 20-30% kerosene or diesel fuel and replace the filler plug
Substituting stops under the front wheels, we hang out the rear wheel or axle as a whole.
Having included the first gear, we start the engine for 2-3 minutes.
Having installed the car on wheels, we completely drain the flushing oil (the duration of the drain is at least 5 minutes).
Having cleaned the drain plug again, we wrap it in place with a key.
After unscrewing the filler plug, fill the gearbox with fresh gear oil (1.2 l) with an oil syringe.
We wrap the filler plug in place.
