On cars, block headlights are used that combine low and high beam headlights (with halogen and gas-discharge xenon lamps) and direction indicators

In addition, the headlights contain parking light bulbs that can also be used as parking lights

The dipped and main beam headlights are switched on by the left steering column switch for outdoor lighting using relays located in the mounting block in the engine compartment.

Depending on the configuration, three types of headlights are installed on cars.

In conventional headlights, halogen high-beam (H9) and low-beam (H11) lamps are installed, as well as side lights and direction indicators.

Change the configuration of the headlight beam depending on the national traffic regulations (right- or left-hand traffic) by gluing a special tape with notches to the specific places of the lenses.

The article shows several diagrams, the main part of the diagrams in the article "Mazda 6 electrical wiring diagrams"

Headlights with cornering light system (AFS) use xenon gas discharge lamps (D2S) for low and high beams and halogen bulbs (H11) for side cornering lights.

Moreover, when driving in a turn, the light stream of the side lighting lamp with the help of a projection lens turns in the direction of the turn of the car.

Headlights without side lighting use gas discharge xenon lamps (D2S) for low beam and halogen filament lamps (H9) for high beam when cornering.

In all headlights, when parking the car in a poorly lit place, you can turn on the side lights in the parking light mode only on one side (the side where other vehicles can pass).

The parking light mode is switched on by turning the direction indicator switch lever to the appropriate side, if the key in the ignition lock (switch) is in the “O” position.

Fog lights

Fog lights are installed on cars at the bottom of the front bumper.

They can only be turned on when the outside lights are on.

Rear lights

They are equipped with LEDs for brake and side lights, turn signal lamps, reversing lights, fog lamps.

Rear fog light

The fog lamp in the rear light is turned on by turning the switch mounted on the switch lever for the exterior lighting and turn indicators.

Indicators

Turn signal lamps are installed in the headlights, rear and side lights.

Right or left direction indicators are switched on by the left stalk switch.

In hazard mode, the hazard switch turns on all direction indicators.

The flashing of the lamps is provided by the alarm breaker relay.

Electrocorrector for headlights

Electric headlight corrector is installed on cars, which allows you to change the direction of the headlight beam in the vertical plane depending on the load of the car.

On cars with gas-discharge xenon headlights, an automatic headlight beam leveler of the second generation is installed with a dynamic control system that takes into account not only the change in the angle of inclination depending on the vehicle load, but also the change in the angle of inclination during movement caused by the action of aerodynamic forces (during a long drive at high speed).

To avoid unnecessary fluctuations in the headlight beam, the system does not react to body vibrations caused by road irregularities and changes in its position during acceleration and braking.

An additional brake light on cars with a sedan or hatchback body is installed respectively in the trunk lid or tailgate, and on cars with a station wagon - in the upper part of the tailgate glass.

Checking and adjusting headlights

Check and adjust the headlights on an equipped vehicle (with a fully filled fuel tank, a set of tools and a spare wheel).

Only headlights with halogen incandescent lamps can be adjusted using the marked screen.

To adjust the headlights with gas discharge lamps, contact a specialized service that has optical stands.

You will need: Phillips screwdriver, 10 wrench.

Pre-check and, if necessary, adjust the air pressure in the tires.

Move the car perpendicular to a smooth wall (e.g. in a garage) at a distance of 3 m.

Place a weight of 75 kg on the driver's seat.

Let's mark the screen on the wall, as shown in the picture

The longitudinal plane of symmetry of the car must pass along line 0 on the screen.

Rock the car from the side so that the suspension springs self-adjust.

Measure the height of the headlight centers from the ground on your vehicle. This will be the distance h (650 mm) on the screen.

Set the headlight dimmer control on the instrument panel to the position appropriate for the load of the car with one driver.

Turn on low beam.

It is recommended to adjust the direction of the light spot for each headlight individually.

Cover the second headlight with an opaque material during adjustment.

Open the hood and, by turning the adjusting screws, adjust (if the location of the light spots does not match the picture) the position on the screen of the light spot for each headlight horizontally and vertically.

Mazda 6 car lighting feature

Headlights are considered adjusted when the upper borders of the left parts of the light spots coincide with line 4, and the vertical lines 1 and 2 pass through the points E1 and E2 of the intersection of the horizontal and inclined sections of the light spots.

If fog lights are installed on the car, then the direction of their beam of light must be adjusted only in height.

Turning the adjusting screw (shown by the arrow in the photo), make sure that the upper borders of the light spots are on line 4 or slightly below it.

Possible malfunctions of lighting and light signaling and solutions

Individual lamps of headlights and lanterns do not light

- blown fuses

Check circuit and change fuses

- lamp filaments burned out

Change lamps

- damage to wires, oxidation of their lugs or loosening of wire connections

Check, replace damaged wires, strip lugs

Turn signals don't turn off automatically after cornering

- damage to the mechanism for resetting the turn signal switch lever

Replace the switch block
