The electrically driven throttle assembly of the distributed fuel injection system is secured to the receiver.
It meters the amount of air entering the intake pipe.
The air supply to the engine is metered by the electrically driven throttle valve controlled by the controller.
The throttle assembly contains two throttle position sensors and an electric drive associated with them.
Removal of the throttle assembly
- Prepare the vehicle and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
- Remove the decorative engine cover.
- Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew and loosen the clamp securing the rubber air supply hose to the throttle assembly.
- Loosen the clamp and remove the hose from the adapter union.
- Disconnect the air supply hose from the throttle assembly and pass it behind the post of the decorative engine cover retainer.
- Press the retainers of the connector of the engine management system wiring harness.
- Remove the wiring harness connector.
- Using a long 10 socket, unscrew the three nuts securing the throttle assembly.
- Carefully remove the throttle assembly from the three studs securing it to the receiver and remove the gasket.
Installation of the throttle assembly
- Install the throttle assembly in the reverse order.
- Replace the gasket between the receiver and the throttle assembly with a new one.
- Tighten the nuts securing the throttle assembly. Tightening torque: 5–8 N·m.
- Connect the intake pipe hose to the throttle assembly and secure it with clamps. Clamp tightening torque: 1.7–2.3 N·m.
Note: After installing the throttle assembly, no adjustment is required. The throttle valve is set to its initial position by the controller.
