We replace the pump in case of noise from its bearing or in case of tight rotation of the pump pulley, large radial play of the pump shaft
We also replace the pump when a coolant leak occurs from the control hole.
Tools will be required: socket heads 10, 12, 16, 18, Torx E14, wrench 13, flat-blade screwdriver, key retainer for setting TDC, camshaft retainer, sealant, container for drained fluid.
We install the car on a lift or a viewing ditch.
F4R engine
We remove the auxiliary drive belt (article - Checking and replacing the Renault Duster auxiliary drive belt).
We remove the timing belt of the timing drive (article - Checking and replacing the timing belt of a Renault Duster car)
With a head of 8, we unscrew the five bolts securing the pump to the cylinder block.
Two dark-colored bolts, shown by arrows, are screwed into the threaded holes of the cylinder block, which open into the engine cooling jacket.
Prying off the pump with a flat screwdriver by the protrusions on its body, remove the pump
The connection between the pump housing and the cylinder block is sealed with a gasket.
Replacing the gasket with a new one, install the coolant pump in reverse order.
Before installing the pump mounting bolts that communicate with the engine cooling jacket, apply a thin layer of sealant to the threaded part of the bolts.
We tighten the bolts with a torque: M6 - 10 Nm; M8 - 22 Nm.
On K4M engine
Remove the accessory drive belt.
We remove the timing belt of the timing drive (article - Checking and replacing the timing belt of a Renault Duster car)
Remove the timing belt tensioner
With a head for 8 we unscrew seven bolts 1 and with a head for 10 one bolt 2 fastening the pump to the cylinder block
Prying off the protrusion on the pump housing with a flat screwdriver, we squeeze the pump from the cylinder block
Remove the coolant pump
Remove the gasket.
Install the coolant pump in reverse order.
Replacing the gasket.
We tighten the pump bolts in the sequence shown in the figure.
We tighten the M6 bolts with a torque of 10 Nm, we tighten the M8 bolts with a torque of 22 Nm.
